The ST Model Arcus M is based on the full size SLMG (Self Launching Motor Glider) of the same name but has been adapted for the needs of a model aircraft. ST has drawn on the knowledge gained in their DG1000 and refined it when designing the Arcus M. The Retractable Power System (RPS) has been improved and the Arcus has the additional features of retractable main wheel (with doors) and fully operating air brakes/spoilers.

The high aspect ratio wing is highly efficient, and when the motor is tucked away, you can really exploit any thermals that you find just like a sailplane. When it comes to landing, that efficient wing is a double-edged sword, so popping out the very effective spoilers creates enough drag and lift reduction to put it exactly where you want. Perfect!

In common with all ST aircraft, the Arcus is CAD designed and then carefully moulded in durable EPO foam. Inside are the correct combination of carbon fibre reinforcing to add strength where required without unneccessary weight.

The powerful brushless motor will pull it skyward at an impressive rate and you only need a 3 cell 1300mAh Li-po to do it! With the Arcus M, you can enjoy the fun of pure gliding without the need for a a launch system.

O.S. GT15HZ Petrol Engine (.90 Class/700 Size)

The O.S. GT15HZ 2-Stroke petrol helicopter engine is also the first petrol engine designed especially for 90 class engine/700 size helicopters. With an approximate runtime ratio of 1 minute per 10cc of petrol, it offers astoundingly long flight times and low cost alternative to glow fuel. Petrol engines generate a larger amount of heat. To prevent overheating, a large deep-finned head is employed which ensures a steady power supply by cooling entire engine efficiently.

The Ignition unit has been designed with ignition timing specifically for helicopter engines and features a straight plug cap for easier installation in the limited space. If you thought ARTF gliders were getting bigger, this is one to re-define that perception, all 6 metres (19.67ft) of it! Modelled on the Mk2 and based on probably the most iconic glider ever, the original Grunau Baby was conceived in Germany in the 1930s to provide pilot training to youngsters that would later provide the backbone of Luftwaffe in WWII. Just like the original, the Black Horse Grunau Baby is a masterpiece of design made completely of balsa and plywood with metal parts added for strength and ease of disassembly. For ease of transport, the wing breaks down into four parts and the tail surfaces are removable too. Unlike the original, all the wooden parts are CNC designed and then laser cut. Assembly is by skilled workers using special jigs to assure everything is aligned. Covering is ultra-durable Oratex in a beautiful ‘period’ red and cream colour scheme based on images that survive from the time and a surviving aircraft in a museum. Launching can be by aerotow (this is the recommended method) or winch. A tow release mechanism is provided in the scale position.

It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of Ripmax Sales Director Jon Wesley.

As a mark of respect Ripmax will be closed for business from 12.30pm on Friday, 12th April and re-opening Monday 15th April

Jon's funeral will be held in the form of a service at a crematorium in Cambridge followed by a reception at a Pub in Stansted Mountfitchet
