    Deacon Miles Elliott, II

At the age of 12 years, our Senior in the Spotlight, Deacon Miles Elliott, II, became a member of First Baptist Church Taylorsville under the leadership of Pastor T. Melvin Steele. His father, who was a Deacon of the church, made sure his children were in Sunday

Church School and regular church services each Sunday.

Growing up as a youth in the church, he was a member of Boys Scout Troop under the leadership of Deacon John H.

Johnson, who also taught the boys Sunday school class (ages 10 – 16). Deacon Elliott, II has fond memories of the fellowship and friendships formed as they studied the Lord’s word together. He also participated in the Young People’s Choir during the Christmas Program and Youth Day. Now 58 years later, Deacon Miles Elliott, II (70 years of age) is an active member of the Deacon Ministry (Vice-Chairman) and Financial Secretary of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville).

On November 12, 1968, Deacon Elliott, II married the former Patricia D. Staton and they became the proud parents of two children: a daughter, Danielle Bazemore (spouse, John Bazemore) and a son, Miles James Elliott. Deacon Miles Elliott, II is a veteran of the U.S. Army. After serving two years in the military, he found employment at the United States Postal Service and retired after 33 years. He loves fishing, his small garden in the backyard in which he shares the produce (tomatoes and cucumbers) with family and friends, and enjoys traveling.

Some members of his family are still an active part of this church. Not only is he joined by his spouse, Deaconess Patricia Elliott but also his sister, Carolyn Daniels (spouse, Mack Daniels); niece, Ebony Daniels; great nieces, Madisyn Linton and Linda Gray; and cousins, Sandra Cross and William Cross.

Deacon Miles Elliott, II was ordained as a Deacon in 1999 and had the privilege and honor to serve with his father, Deacon Miles Elliott. From his father, Deacon Elliott, II learned the meaning of being a servant for the Lord. Deacon Elliott, II states, “It is my prayer that I show myself worthy of all the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me”.

Deacon Elliott, II served as the Worship Master of the Lebanon Lodge 34; and as an active member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville), he is a former Men’s Day

    (Continued on the next page)

Chairman and Vice-Chairman and a former member of the Trustee Board under the leadership of Pastor Steele. He is currently a member of the Male Chorus, Men’s Ministry and an active member of the Joint Deacon/Trustee Ministry. He faithfully attends the Midweek Prayer Service and Bible Study, Men’s Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School. His favorite scriptures are Philippians 3:13-14 and Psalm 121 and his favorite Christian song is “My Help (Cometh from the Lord).

What do Deacon Miles Elliott, II love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): “Although this is the church my immediate family were members, most important, it is where I found the Lord and received Him as my Lord and Savior. I am, therefore, eternally grateful.”

Deacon Miles Elliott, II has continue to carry on the legacy of his father serving faithfully along with his spouse, Deaconess Patricia Elliott. Never wavering in what the Lord will have him to do and being a loving, spiritual and strong supporter in every way to the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family.

Congratulations to our Senior in the Spotlight, Deacon Miles Elliott, II, who is pressing toward the mark for

the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
