In our Outside Classroom, our students are growing in many areas such as gross and fine motor development, social-emotional development, and creative expression. Our outside classroom offers physical, cognitive and psychological benefits to our students. It also teaches our students a better appreciation of nature and the environment, and increases their physical development, capabilities, and activities.. Through projects and group activities our outside classroom supports stronger language, problem-solving, and communication skills. In the outside classroom environment our students develop an interest in science and math by connecting with nature. Outside-learning fosters learning through self-initiation, control and personal responsibility. Students who learn outside are happier, have higher self-esteem, and build relationships more effectively when they are in a cooperative, non-competitive setting. St. Rita School's outside classroom fosters strong stewardship skills for the environment.
