Nevertheless of it small size,
Tanjung Datu National Park is
equally rich and varied in
wildlife including the only
flying mammal, BATS.
Recent survey shows there are
at least 26 species of bats in
Tanjung Datu National Park.
Bats falls under the order of
Chiropteran and there are 8
families of bats in Borneo
which can be distinguished
based on ear shape, muzzle
shape, the presence or absence
of a noseleaf and the tail
pattern.
There are two types of bats
which are fruit and nectar
feeders, and insect eating bats.
Fruit bats are responsible as a
pollinating agent whereas
insect bats has an important
role in our ecosystem as a pest
control.
