About Us:Established and incorporated in the Nevada Department o Transportation Planning Division,

the Aviation Planning Section is responsible or helping ensure that Nevadas general aviationpublic and private use airports meet applicable saety requirements and provide maximum util-ity to their communities and the fying public. Through annual saety inspections and educationprograms, the NDOT Aviation Planning Section acilitates the establishment o a viable, balancedand integrated system o aviation acilities. NDOT also prepares and administers the State AirportSystems Plan. This plan identies the aeronautical role o existing and recommended airports.It provides a comprehensive planning ramework, consistent with state goals and objectives or

economic development, transportation, land use, and the environment. It incorporates metro-politan regional airport system planning and provides direction or airport master planning. TheState Airport Systems Plan also serves as the Nevada component o the FAAs National Plan oIntegrated Airport Systems.

The airspace over the Black Rock Desert is Class G uncontrolled airspace up to 14,500 eet

MSL. The southwestern portion o the Black Rock Desert including Black Rock City underlies theReno MOA.

The Scenic Pattern - Circle clockwise outside the ence at 5,500 t. MSL (1,500 AGL). Highercircuits at 6,000 t., 6,500 t. etc. enter and leave at altitude. No climbing or descending in theScenic Pattern. Report position as clock time, where 12:00 is straight out rom the man.

1. Follow the instructions given by theintercepting aircraft. (See chart at right.)

2. Notify ATC, if possible.

3. Attempt to communicate with ATC on theemergency frequency 121.5 MHz, givingthe identity and position of youraircraft and the nature of the flight.

4. If equipped with a transponder, squawk7700, unless otherwise instructed by ATC.If any instructions received by radiofrom any sources conflict with those givenby the intercepting aircraft by visual or radiosignals, request clarification while continuingto comply with the instructions given by theintercepting aircraft.
