NAS minimizes SWaP-C while meeting thermal, structural, and environmental requirements (both operational and storage). Despite the appearance of simplicity, sophisticated engineering has been applied (based on prior development efforts) to the memory modules and connectors to ensure consistent and solid mating of the cartridge connectors (a patented design), thermal management of the cartridges, power management of the system, and proven environmental and EMI-focused design features to minimize problems in the field.

NAS/NFS design is proposed for high-demand platforms with high-capacity and R/W speeds such as the AC/MC-130J, JSTARS, AWACS, MQ-25A Stingray ISR Unmanned Tanker for the Navy and other advanced UAV/Special Mission aircra.
