This is a critical tool for the practice as it stores all of their radiology and mammography images. The system they had been using was not meeting the needs of such a large volume medical practice. Additionally, their internal IT support was not sufficient for the technology needs the practice faced. Cindy Boszilkov, Practice Administrator for BCS, explains the situation: “We were struggling because we didn’t have a dedicated IT person. The individual who was tasked to manage these needs didn’t have a technology background; that wasn’t his primary skillset.” Cindy suggested BCS call on Network 1 Consulting for help. “I had worked with members of Network 1 in a previous role and was comfortable with them,” she says. “They came in and met with us to learn about our needs, both in terms of hardware and software for the PACS, as well as ongoing IT support.” Solution: Network 1 assisted in the selection and analysis of PACS vendors and systems from both a financial and operational aspect, then guided the implementation and training of BCS staff on the new system. This was a significant change that impacted the entire practice, but with Network 1‘s technical and operational support, the process went smoothly. During implementation, the staff member who worked in IT left the practice. Network 1 stepped in and assumed 100% of the project management and provided day-to-day on-site support, so that there were no disruptions in patient care or daily operations. Network 1 then helped source a suitable IT Manager for BCS, so they could once again manage their general technology needs in-house. They worked closely with the new hire to ensure he was transitioned easily into the role and hit the ground running. This was especially critical as the practice was also expanding services by opening up a second office and would need IT help and support with the current office while moving into a new one. “They made sure everything was coordinated between IT systems vendors and the construction team. We were able to prepare our new office for opening over a weekend. Staff and patients were able to walk right in on Monday as if the office had always been there!” Results: Today, both BCS’ PACS system and their internal IT Manager are working out well. Network 1 continues to provide managed services to the practice, as well as on-demand assistance for the random technology project or office IT need. Cindy enjoys her working relationship with the team. “They’re very responsive; they listen to our questions and concerns no matter how large or small they may be. They do not patronize. As an IT layperson, I might think something is a calamity, when in reality it’s a simple button push for them. However, if you or your staff can’t use your tools, it’s frustrating and they understand that.” She also appreciates Network 1’s understanding of healthcare needs and their ability to interact well with physicians and medical staff alike. “They are kind and don’t make anyone feel belittled.” Best of all, staff at BCS can focus on their jobs and not try to wear so many hats that they never get their own work done. This makes Cindy’s workday easier. “Since Network 1 is always just a phone call or ticket away, they help us be more efficient, adding value to our medical practice and resulting in happier staff and patients.”
