History of NetMath
Ø Asynchronous 16 week and 9 month courses
Ø Mathematics courses including Calculus sequence, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Probability
Ø Anyone can enroll in a NetMath course
Ø Open enrollment (one course at a time)
Ø For University of Illinois transferable credit
NetMath courses
Ø Courses are not part of an entire program
Ø No lecture videos
Ø Most courses have a mentor to assist students
Ø Learning through exploration and dynamic visualization
What makes NetMath unique?

Ø Course mentor(s) will grade assignments
Ø TAs will grade exams
Ø Homework is worth a large % of the overallgrade
Ø Students are given more than one attempt onhomework
Grading
1. Read through the course description.
2. Ask yourself the questions in the “IsNetMath For You?” section.
3. Set out a schedule based on the course termlength.
4. Find an exam proctor (if possible).
5. Be ready for the course start instructions.
Before Registering
Ø Principal or Superintendent of a schoolØ Dean, Department Head, Extension
Administrator, Registrar, or Official TestingService of University or College
Ø Education Officer in the armed forcesØ Full-Time High School/College InstructorØ Full-time librarian at a public library
Ø Find your proctor within first two weeks ofstarting the course
Proctor Requirements
1. You will receive an email confirmation.(Possible advisor confirmation)
2. Within a few days, we will send you anenrollment confirmation.
3. If you are not a U of I student, you will besent a NetID and email to access billing.
4. After this is set, you will be sent a welcomeemail with steps to get started.
After Registering
Ø Blackboard Collaboratechat room(course orientation)
Ø Piazza Forum to post questions and receive feedback
Ø Course TA
Additional Support
Ø Course is considered complete when yourfinal exam has been taken
Ø You will receive a final grade report
Ø Grade will be posted to UIUC transcriptwithin a few days
Ø May enroll in another course after finalexam is completed
