2. Work with Visio and Q-Map side-by-side

Dynamic access to Visio diagrams (from Search, Q-map or a device)

Convert Visio to a Q-Map for dynamic network analysis

Organize Visio and Q-Maps in one easy-to-access place – the Map Center

2.2 Convert a Visio Map to a Q-map

To take advantage of dynamic Q-map analysis features, users can convert a Visio into a Q-Map with one-click, as long as all the devices in Visio have been discovered by NetBrain.

2.3 Zoom into a Q-map to Access Visio

While working on a Q-Map, users may need to refer to existing Visio maps. Zoom into a Q-Map and a dialog that lists related Visio maps will appear.

» The relevance is weighted by common devices on the maps.

with Variable-Enabled Link Groups

Power users can use variables (e.g. #EIGRP-ID) when defining the search criteria of a link group. Standard users only need to specify the value of those variables before mapping the link group defined by others. For example, instead of building multiple link groups, 1 for each EIGRP AS, administrators can define one link group with a variable EIGRP [#ID]. After the link group is shared, standard users can create a map of EIGRP 100 simply by specifying the variable #ID as “100”.

Power users define a link group with a variable [#ID] and share it with all standard users

Standard users specify or select a value for the variable before creating a map for the link group

4. Use NetFlow for Traffic Analysis Users can now drill-down link utilization with NetFlow data, which will identify port-level conversations

and top-talkers. The results are displayed within a sortable table, through which a dynamic map may be created for each conversation pair.

» The network device must have NetFlow enabled for this feature to function.

Destination NAT support for path discovery has been added on top of source NAT support.

5. Discover Paths Across NAT Devices

5.1 Show Details of Path Discovery Logic New path logic displays hop-by-hop route table entries, along with drill-down menu options,

so that users can better understand how a candidate path is selected. If there are ACL, VRF, PBR or NAT configured in the current hop, relevant data is displayed so that users can further decide if the path is impacted by these configurations.

Status of path discovery:

Success

Failure

Special technologies including ACL, VRF, PBR and NAT configured in the current hop are displayed next to the device icon. Users can review those configurations by hovering over the warning messages (with yellow backgrounds).

7. Simplified Setup Process

The startup Wizard has been simplified from 6 steps to 2 steps:

1. Define live access credentials and network proxies

2. Discover the live network and build L3 & L2 topology

» After these two steps, the Workstation will sync with the Enterprise Server automatically
