DAE UNITS AT KALPAKKAM- EARLIER EFFORTAll the DAE units at Kalpakkam are playing important roles and are working in unison towards development of neighborhood villages.
Apart from providing indirect employment in the various units, the thrust has been mainly towards betterment in education, health & hygiene, infrastructure and other welfare measures.
Emergency health services are already being provided in the DAE hospital as and when the requirement arose.
The needy and deserving children from the neighbouring villages have been given admission in the schools in the Kalpakkam Campus (AECS and KV).
Schemes at Kalpakkam encompasseabout 15 panchayat unions in and around the plant site.
Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) has been undertaking various programmes for neighbourhood development for past several years with varying budget over years. In last few years their annual budget towards such programmes was Rs.25 lakhs.
Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam (BHAVINI) has also spent more thanRs.25 lakhs in the past few years towards neighbouring village development programmes include infrastructure development in schools and hospital, improvements in labs and libraries and conducting medical camps.
