Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) News Letter

Our Vision is “to mould the character, shape the career, perfect the behavior and excel in

educating the younger generations of today for tomorrow”.

Our Mission is “to offer innovative and socially relevant job-oriented courses with a view

to enhance the employment prospects of the learners. In carrying out educational mission,

we endeavor to upgrade the knowledge, skill and behavior of the students, striving hard

towards excellence in all spheres of our activities”.

Quality Policy is “to transform our students as Knowledgeable Individuals, Skilled

Professionals and Well Behaved Human Beings to live as Worthy Citizens to work for the

well being of the society and strive towards building a better India with true spirit of

culture, patriotism, and nationality, to create international brotherhood and global

harmony through value based and man-making education”.

Our Emblem enlightens that Knowledge is Wisdom. It determines the triangle structure in

all its efforts and the three areas like intellectual, moral and spiritual aspects of the

students.

Events Organized through IQAC

International Conference Organized @ Malaysia

Two Day International Conference on “Interdisciplinary Research Innovations in

Computer Science, Biosciences and Electronics” (IRICBE-2016) was held on 29.11.2016

and 30.11.2016 at Malaysia. Dr. B. Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts and Science

College welcomed the gathering and Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, CEO and Secretary,

Nehru Group of Institutions presided over the function. The Conference was inaugurated

by Dr. Zhang Xiao Ying, Professor in Pharmacology, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry,

University College of Veterinary Medicine, China. Dr. P. T. Ajith Kumar, President and

Leading Scientist, Light Logics, Holography and Optics Pvt. Ltd, Trivandram, India

delivered Special Address. Dr. Premkumar Rajagopal, President of Malaysia University of

Science and Technology (MUST), Malaysia addressed the gathering. Various technical

sessions were conducted and the best papers & posters were awarded with cash prize.

During the programme, the proceeding of the conference was released by the dignitaries.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed and exchanged between Nehru Arts

and Science College and Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Malaysia for

the exchange of students and organizing workshops, seminars and conferences.

Seminar on “Qualities in Higher Education”

Nehru Arts and Science College had organized a seminar on “Qualities in Higher

Education” on 07.02.2017 in the seminar hall. Dr. Shirish Chindhade, Founder,

Association of Indian College Principals (AICP) was the resource person. He briefed on

the topic “Innovate or Disappear”.

The Fine Arts Club along with the Fine Arts Ministry conducted the Talents Day-

2016 on 20.08.2016. All the freshers participated and showcased their talents.


Fantabulous 2016

Fantabulous 2016, an Intercollegiate Cultural Fiesta was held on 30.09.2016 at P.

K Das Memorial Auditorium. More than 1750 students from 64 Colleges in Tamilnadu

and Kerala participated. Dr.G.Parameswari, Joint Director of Collegiate Education,

Coimbatore Region was the Chief Guest.

Festember 2016: College Day

Festember was held on 01.10.2016 at P.K. Das Memorial Auditorium which threw

more focus on Charity Activities and it included the donation of Kitchen Utensils worth

Rupees Seventy Five Thousand (Rs.75, 000/-) to the girl children of HIV affected parents

residing at Abhaya Students Shelter, Kalappanaickenpalayam Village near Kanuvai in

Coimbatore. Mr. Anbuthambi Bhojarajan, Vice President, ICTACT ;CRD John Edison,

Senior Manager, Learning & Development, Cognizant Technologies and Dr. J. Rajendran,

Chairman, JRD Promoters, Builders, Developers and Realtors, Coimbatore were the Chief

Guests.

Nehru Dream Home

The Trust launched Nehru Dream Home scheme on November 14, 2013 to mark

the birth anniversary celebration of Jawaharlal Nehru which aims to provide shelter for the

needy people. This is the third year since the scheme was started. Every year one home is

constructed and handed over to the beneficiary identified by the trust. Two homes have

been constructed and handed over to the beneficiaries. This year a home, comprising a

hall, a bedroom with toilet and kitchen, was constructed and handed over to

Mrs.Theivanai, the beneficiary of the scheme.

The Third Nehru Dream Home was constructed by Nehru Educational and

Charitable Trust and handed over on 12.02.2016 at Thirumalayampalayam. Pillayar

Peetam Guru Maha Sannidhanam Thavathiru Ponmanivasaga Adigalar, Dr. P. Krishnadas,

Managing Trustee of Nehru Group of Institutions and Dr. P. Krishnakumar, CEO &

Secretary of NGI handed over the keys to the beneficiary. Nehru Dream Home-2017 is

proposed for the tribes residing in “RottiKoundanur” village in association with

Government of India. There are seven homes to be constructed under this scheme.

Amutha Surabhi

The welfare scheme “Amutha Surabhi” was initiated on 15.12.2013 on the

celebration of the Founder’s Day - The Birth Day of our Founder cum Chairman Late P.

K. Das. The scheme “Amutha Surabhi” provides three meals - breakfast, lunch and

dinner for selected 26 needy people (aged, physically & mentally challenged) of

Thirumalayampalayam, for life time. The Management spends Rs.60, 000/- per month

(approximately) for this scheme.

National Festivals & Major Functions

15th Graduation Ceremony

Our College has bagged 32 University Ranks in the Bharathiar University

Examinations. During the Graduation Ceremony, 07 Gold Medalists (5 UG & 2 PG) were

appreciated with refund of their 3 year Tuition Fee and other Rank Holders have been

awarded with cash prize of Rupees Fifteen Thousand (Rs. 15,000/-). Seven Hundred and

Thirteen Under Graduate and Post Graduate students were awarded with the degrees of

Bharathiar University on 30.07.2016 at P. K. Das Memorial Auditorium. Dr. S. Saun,

Director (Research), ICSSR, New Delhi was the Chief Guest.

Honoring the Gold Medalist with cash prize A Moment with University Rank Holders

University Rank Holders Felicitation PRAPTI – 2016

University Rank Holders were honoured with Citations and Memento in a special

function “PRAPTI- 2016” held at Nehru Arts and Science College on 07.09.2016. In the

Academic year 2015-16, students have attained 59 University Ranks including 07 Gold

Medals. Dr. K. Balachandran, Professor, UGC (BSR), Syndicate Member, Periyar

University was the Chief Guest.


Teachers Day Celebration

The Students Cabinet conducted the Teachers Day-2016 on 03.09.2016. On the

day of celebration, various awards like Favourite Teacher, Experienced Teacher, Eminent

Leaders, etc. were given to the faculty members of Nehru Arts and Science College. In

addition to that, verities of games were conducted and prizes were given to the winners.

Onam Celebration

Nehru Arts and Science College organized the Onam Celebration on 09.09.2016 in

the College premises. The Celebration was shaded with the colours of the Onam to

enhance the spirit of the Festivity.

Saraswathi Pooja Celebration

Saraswathi Pooja was celebrated on 07.10.2016 along with the Secretary Dr. P.

Krishna Kumar, the Principal Dr. B. Anirudhan, Staff and Students.

Christmas Celebration

Nehru Arts and Science College organized Christmas day Celebration on

23.12.2016. As a part of the Christmas celebration various competitions were conducted.

During the celebration, students performed Christmas Skit, Margam Kali (Traditional

Christian dance of Kerala) and Carol songs. Prizes were distributed to the winners and

surprise gifts were given to the students by Santa Claus.

Daya 2016 (“Dream As You Aspire”)

Nehru Arts and Science College organized Daya 2016 in college premises on

27.10.2016. It is a function celebrated every year in connection with Diwali festival. This

year, 100 inmates of Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore received the festival dress,

sweets and lunch in the College which were donated by Management and Staff members

of Nehru Arts and

Science College.

Shri P. K. DAS Memorial Best Faculty Award &

Life Time Achievement Award 2016

Nehru Group of Institutions have been instituting Shri P. K. Das Memorial Best

Faculty Award & Life Time Achievement Award from 2009 on December 15th

of every

year, remembering the birth date of the Founder cum Chairman Late P. K. Das. Nine Best

Faculty Awards in senior category, eight awards under junior category and two Life Time

Achievement Awards were given. Chief Guests were Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna,

Director, AICTE, New Delhi and Dr.B. Ilango, Chief Jury, Former Vice Chancellor,

Bharathiar University.

Nehru Arts and Science College celebrated 68th

Republic Day on 26.01.2017. Dr.

D. Michael Lenin, Chairman, RKV CBSE School was the Chief Guest of the day.

Adieu 2017

Adieu was conducted on 18.04.2017 to honour the Toppers and Best outgoing

students by presenting endowment awards to them. Dr. P. Suryanarayanan, Former

Placement Cell (NCP & IR)

The Job Offer Letter Distribution Ceremony “Ridhhi – 2017” was organized on

12.04.2017. More than 1200 employment offer letters were distributed to the students of

various streams at “Riddhi – 2017”, a glittering ceremony held at Nehru Group of

Institutions (NGI) Thirumalayampalayam campus. More than 140 companies including

Jaro Education, Infosys BPO, HGS, IBM, KPMG, Tech Mahindra, N-DOT, Nestle, IDBI,

Neviton, Capegemini, Vertical and more visited NGI for recruitment. Again this year,

NGI achieved to bring reputed companies which offer highest salary package about 6

Lakhs per annum. Mr. L. Sivaraman, Head, Product Development [Defense Vehicle],

Ashok Leyland and Mr. Ramesh Rajagopalan, Sr. Director Operations, HP were the chief

guests for the function. Mr. Sharath Arun, Project Manager, Infosys Bangalore and Mr.
