We have witnessed the tremendous potential that each of the students at Neev embody within them. Sarvajeet Diwas was the celebration of their learning and the display of their skills and nerve. It instilled in them discipline, confidence and the respect for themselves and their peers and a desire to excel. In the days leading up to their sport’s day, the children had sessions teaching them about nutrition, fluid intake, sleeping habits, personal care, need for exercises, super food etc. The various aspects of sports and its relevance was also discussed and experienced through their practice sessions, be it track, field or yoga. To understand the relevance of healthy competition, the thin line between competition within and exploring one’s own talent and sharpening that through deliberate practice, Mr. Sunil Joshi, an all rounder cricketer, visited school to share his experiences with the children. Mr. Joshi represented India from 1996 - 2001, in the National and International Cricket Arena. He shared his success story of representing India, in Cricket. His motivation, determination and grit from a young age to achieve his dream, despite all odds, was an exemplar for our students to draw inspiration from. The children were truly inspired and engaged in a long Q&A session with Mr. Joshi and also inquired if they could learn cricket under his guidance and tutelage. Below are the grade wise reflections from the students and staff giving us glimpses of what went into the making of Sarvajeet Diwas, 2014 We were participating in different events like sprints, hurdles, hurdles relay and basket ball and football tournaments. We were standing on the victory stand for the first time. Grade 1A won both of the tournaments. We learnt that sports is about collaborating, team work, appreciation and enthusiasm. Spirit of Sport – G1B

Grade 2 A reflection

Triumphant tournament winners - Grade 1B

Sports day became a motivational factor in their school activities, and the students would hurry to complete their work in order to attend the sports practice out in the fields, armed with their water bottles and team jerseys. The children reflected on the attitudes and profiles they used: risk taking, while attempting to participate in something new they had never done before, showing respect and empathy to others when teams lost, commitment to achieve their personal best in individual events and appreciation shown to winning teams. The biggest lesson the children learnt was to be resilient, to accept defeat and emerge richer from the experience. The children reflected on their laurels and are confident that next year they are going to strive even harder and Sarvajeet Diwas will definitely be better!

We, in Grade 2A have always felt very excited about Sports day and have tried our very best to win, It is okay if we lose because all our mistakes will teach us a lesson which we will never forget, and it will help us in winning the next time! Everybody in school enjoyed it!We just loved the march past because of all the practice and the happiness and joy of everybody on the field together during the practice. It made all of us feel like real army people.

The children showed great enthusiasm from the moment the first announcement was made for sports day, a month in advance.

Taking the oath – Grade 2A

Grade 2B reflection

The Grade 2B batch have had varied experiences of Sarvajeet Diwas. Some were good and some not so good. The best part was that all were participating in some event or the other. Some of us won and were very excited to receive a trophy or medal and certificates. Though the ones who lost were sad, we did learn from our mistakes. As all of us have written our reflections of the practice sessions and the main event in class we realized we will definitely do better the next year as a team and individually as well.

Grade 3 reflection

Sport’s day is all about team work and collaboration and also about participa-tion. It is about exercising to be fit and to be energized all the time. It displays our strengths and helps us work on our weaknesses. It helps us to compete with others to improve our stamina. Sports day is important as it helps us to under-stand our limits. Sports day makes us resilient. Losing in sports is important, as it helps us to reflect and better ourselves next time. Sports is all about challenging yourself!

Our jubilant Grade 3Team spirit! – Tournament winners in Grade 2B

Foundation Batch reflection

On, straight on…

Neev Academy observed Sarvajeet Diwas for the first time in its history. It was all about showcasing sportsmanship, team work and determination to win.

There were mixed feelings of excitement and nerv-ousness because all of us were taking part in multi-ple races and everybody was determined to win. We showed sportsman-ship even when we did not make it and cheered for others who won and got medals and trophies. School had organized fun games for parents, teachers as well as for younger grade students. Everybody put in their best and was energetic till the end. We all had a great time and look forward to the next Sarvajeet Diwas.
