Trend of data growth has become even more fast-paced

Data storage has emerged as one of the most talked-about issues

in the hardware and software industries. The experts around the world

are coming up with ideas to utilize the existing and latest trends of data

storage to the fullest. Online storage is one of the powerful progressions

which are expected to rule the next decade as well. However, there are

many other trends that are fl ourishing at a fast pace. It is important to

mention that the trend of data growth has become even more fast-paced.

It was in the year 2002 that the storage industry was able to fulfi ll the exact

requirement of storing data at that time. However, the mismatch between

data storage needs and data storage availability can be clearly seen today.

This has mainly happened due to the existence of duplicate data. This in

turn has led to the growth of the trend of data deletion to get rid of excess

of duplicated data. Data de-duplication is one of the key trends that have

started gaining popularity in recent times. The process involves deletion

of duplicate and redundant data that add to the storage space needs.

What is the overall performance of Kingston in India?So far we are pretty satisfi ed with Kingston’s performance in India this

year. Looking at the global market performance, India hasn’t been too far behind. We’ve launched many new products this year, and they were well received in the market. SSD has been our main focus and we have seen tremendous growth especially in this category. We are backed by an excellent distributor network across the country, which is the key to our performance.What is the SSD trend now? How can reseller partners ben-efi t from Kingston’s SSD Program?

Kingston is working continuously towards educating corporates and individual consumers about the advantages of using SSDs through a number of marketing initiatives. In addition, we have begun to equip our channel partners with training, demo and evaluation units, brochures, roadmaps, to help them understand this new technology better. Besides training and providing material we have gone ahead with helping partners to understand various application of SSD in different industries. It is only a matter of time before other corporates in India sit up and realize what a big difference SSDs can make to their company’s overall performance.Recently, Kingston announced the co-logo program in India. What’s your expectation through the initiatives?

With Kingston Co-Logo Program, business enterprises are able to customize Kingston DataTraveler USB drives and Kingston memory cards by adding their logo and/or digital fi les to instantly increase their brand recognition. Successful Kingston co-logo projects include the Bollywood fi lm “Dum Maaro Dum” in India, Asus in Thailand and Taiwan, Adidas and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in Taiwan to name a few. How important is the channel community for Kingston’s operations in India as well as globally?

The channel community is very crucial for us since Kingston sells products only though channel partners. Only system specifi c and OEM products are sold directly to customers. In India, Kingston Flash products are sold through a multi-level distribution system consisting of leading distributors like Avnet India, Fortune Marketing, Neoteric Informatique Limited, HCL Infosystems Limited, Compuage Infocom Limited and Shree Pati Computers.

These are well connected with over 200 partners across the country.What is your SSD channel strategy? What are your future plans for your partners?

We have a dedicated set of distributors selling SSDs in India. These distributors work to identify, train and support their channel partners who in turn work extensively with corporates and enterprises to educate them about the benefi ts of using SSD technology.To support this channel force, we have introduced a number of promotional schemes targeted at both corporate customers and channel partners. We also have plans to roll

out customer connect initiatives across major metros, aimed at informing corporate customers on how to integrate SSDs into their enterprise storage architecture.What are the major challenges before you in increasing sales and how are you ad-dressing these challenges?

Our focus right now is to increase awareness among consumers about the advantages that SSDs have compared to traditional HDDs. Towards this end, we have rolled out a number of channel education initiatives and customer connect programs. We have also introduced a variety of promotional schemes designed to bootstrap faster adoption. Our biggest

challenge lies in changing the consumer mindset which remains focused only on price. Our aim is to emphasize to consumers that if they’re looking for speed, performance and value for money, SSDs are a clear winner. How are you enabling your channel to earn more profi ts?

Since Kingston has close relationships with suppliers, we are trying to bring the cost down and then present low-cost but high performance SSD products.How is Kingston expanding Indian operations through retail chain?
