JULY Dear Friends, The dictionary defines a hero as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Today's culture often sets aside celebrities or men and women of athletic achievement as heroes, yet I am not sure this is helpful to our society. If Jesus Christ came to Moore, South Carolina today, I believe he would consider heroes to be the teachers, police officers, stay-at-home parents, nurses, and others who live daily to make our lives fuller and safer. I also believe Jesus would discover many heroes right here at Nazareth Presbyterian - the men, women and children who give and serve and pray and laugh and love in the name of building the Kingdom of God. Among my heroes are the sister in Christ who takes the time to let me know how the sermon gave her strength, the children who enthusiastically gather pennies on the last Sunday of the month and the one who intentionally prays for the needs of our congregation. I hope you will join us for Vacation Bible School as we learn more about the Heroes of our Faith. Their stories teach us, not only about our past with God, but how God still uses each of us as heroes in the kingdom today, giving us the courage to put everything on the line for the glory of God. Blessings, Julie "I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

MISSION STATEMENT OF NAZARETH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

To worship and glorify God and to make disciples for Christ.

JULY

Dear Friends, The dictionary defines a hero as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Our church family,

Thank you so much for all the prayers, gifts, cards and calls. We appreciate and love each of you.

Love, Ken and Jenny Collins

Tommy and Ann Campbell want to thank everyone for all the cards, prayers, letters and good thoughts that brought Margaret Culclasure back home!

Many, many thanks to our Nazareth family for all the prayers you have sent our way this spring. We truly appreciate your love and support! Homer is now cancer free and happily retired and we are most grateful for these blessings. My dad has settled into his new home in Greer and is basically stable at this point. Again, thank you for all your prayers.

Volunteer Opportunities Gifts-in-Kind Shopping

Tuesdays at 10:00 am: You get 30 minutes to shop at a warehouse supplied by Good Will. You must be trained

to be able to complete this shopping. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact

Courtney Quillen at 864-237-8795.

Second Harvest Shopping

Thursday mornings (time is flexible but must be done in the morning): You get approximately 30 minutes to shop

at a warehouse provided by the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. When you return to TCT, food items will

need to be sorted and put away. Volunteers are also needed to organize and prepare TCT for the arrival of the

food. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Belinda Hinson at 864-978-6723.

Sam’s Club Food Donation Pick up

Tuesday and Thursday mornings: Donated food items are picked up from Sam’s club before 12:00 pm and

brought back to TCT where they are put away. Two volunteers will work together to complete this task (large

vehicles such as trucks, minivans and SUVs are better for this pick up). You can sign up to pick up once or twice

a month. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Heather Warner at 864-237-3274.

Food Sorting

Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am: Any produce that is picked up from Sam’s Club needs to be sorted and

bagged. We are looking for several volunteers to help with this so that we can create a monthly work schedule

where each volunteer will help out once or twice a month. If you are interested or would like more information,

please contact Heather Warner at 864-237-3274.

Aldi’s Food Donation Pick up

Friday mornings: Donated food items are picked up from Aldi’s at 10:00 am and brought back to TCT where

everything is put away. We are looking for volunteers to help with this pick up once a month. If you are

interested or would like more information, please contact Heather Warner at 864-237-3274.
