The Midlands Baptist Youth Conference was held on July 24-25, 2014 at New Ebenezer Baptist Church on Gregg Street. The Thursday evening session opened with seminars on basic topics of interest for youth and parents alike. Rev. Sandra McRant facilitated the middle school session. Youth from First Nazareth participated in several seminars and games. The Garment of Praise – Youth dancers performed during talent hour with music from Ty Tribett “If He did it before, He can do it again." Friday's session opened with a panel discussion on the Stand your Ground Law--a law recently enacted in South Carolina and other southern states. It has been used to decide several national cases in Florida and North Carolina. The panel consisted of Deon O'Neal, an attorney who specializes in auto accidents and criminal defense; Beatrice Fields, a criminal investigator with the City of Columbia Police Department, and Sgt. Gerald Walls, Richland County Sheriff Department. First Nazareth won third place in overall attendance. Info: Pat W. Green –
