NOR JANNAHTUL AMNI BT TAKATI 2010494316 OFFICE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (OM 221) NATIONAL UNION OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION (NUTP) Introduction National Union of Teaching Profession is one of union that formed by teachers in 27 th June 1974. The first president of the was Tuan Haji Ahmad bin Abdul Rahman. NUTP is combination of National Union of Teachers (NUTP) and National School Teachers National Union. This NUTP is under purpose of Act 1955 that to provide a number of benefits for workers covered by the act, and to establish rights for both employers and employee. Other than that, a special feature of NUTP is that its membership is all covered all categories of school and all categories of teachers. NUTP state that the respect to teachers not only comes from different quarters of society and the government but from teachers themselves, they need to enhance professional of teaching on high achievement. Vision, Mission and Objectives of NUTP The Vision of NUTP is to enhance of quality of the teaching profession in Malaysia. The Mission of NUTP in this union is plan to carry out variety of program to knowing others about innovative, dynamic and progressive teachers in line with the vision of rebuild the standard and image of the Teaching Professional establish itself. Also, NUTP as an efficient and effective union in obtain and maintain the basic rights and privileges of teachers and it provide brilliant service to its members. The Objectives of NUTP first is, to protect teachers and teaching profession that always concern about services in teaching. Moreover, it includes business relationship, special privilege and others matters that related in professional of teaching. NATIONAL UNION OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION (NUTP)

Introduction

National Union of Teaching Profession is one of union that formed by teachers in 27th

June 1974. The first president of the was Tuan Haji Ahmad bin Abdul Rahman. NUTP is

combination of National Union of Teachers (NUTP) and National School Teachers National

Union. This NUTP is under purpose of Act 1955 that to provide a number of benefits for workers

Second is, this union improves welfare of members in the social and material aspects by follow

rules and guidelines laws of workers union.

Types and Benefits of NUTP Membership

In NUTP there are three types of membership. First, is ordinary membership. When

become a membership, a member need and approved by NUTP branch which is the basic

condition is only being teacher in government school and over 18 years old. Secondly, is

associate membership. This type is open who those resign from teaching and fees due annually

only RM18. Thirdly is honorary membership. Its is to any member who has contributed

excellent service to NUTP or education profession and approve by the delegates conference on

recommendation of Executive Council. When be a members in NUTP, has benefits to NUTP

matters that affect in employment. If in not related cases, the Constitutions of the Union

provides for financial assistance. Second, when have a problem. Includes have the problem

relating of salary anomalies, leave, transfer, disputes with principles of teachers and disciplinary

cases. The action by Union, it has regular meetings with Educational Ministry officials to

discuss and resolve members problem. Third, in promoting professionalism. The Union

organizes talks, forums, seminar and dealing with educational issues for the benefit of

members. The aimed for all this at seeking solutions for some local educational problems and

leadership on professional matters.

Rights and Responsibilities of NUTP Membership

The right of ordinary member is divided into three aspects. First is an election right. In

this right, member can be a propose to any member who wishes to contest any post and is

eligible to vote in a confidential during the Branch. Other than that, right to be selected as a

Trustee, Internal Auditor and Arbitrator also right to attend General Meeting of Branch. Second,

is financial right. Members are right to enjoy benefits from the Welfare Fund, eligible to apply for

monthly fees if pursuing further education, to examine the Registration Book and Union Account

and to submit written complaints to the Internal Auditors. Third, is other right that members have

include to use facilities provided by NUTP, enjoy NUTP publications published and right to

written reference to any industrial dispute to the Branch Secretary. Besides that, also have

some matters that responsibility as member of NUTP. First, members need to pay dues on time

and to pay continuously. Second, members must inform the Branch Secretary immediately of

any changes of address and place work. Third, a member cannot inform affairs of NUTP to

non-members or media without permission. Last but not least, a member must submit dues

within six months after receiving the statement of dues.

NUTP Facilities and Achievement

NUTP facilities includes job confirmation, salary, leave, pension, transfer, group

insurance, death benefit fund, problem faced in services, work load and teachers discipline

case. NUTP achievement also in improve the ration of teacher, increase the number of

admission of teachers to universities, equal pay for woman teachers, determine allowance rate

for duties, balance in salary and also salary for temporary trained teachers on maternity leave.
