The National Society of Black Engineers—DC Alumni Extension (NSBE–AEDC) cordially invites your company to become a 2011—2012 partner through our Corporate Partnership Program (CPP). We welcome this opportunity to work together to develop the best and brightest engineers of the DC metro area. Since its founding by six visionary leaders in 1975, this non-profit 501(c)(3) organization has grown to more than 32,000 members globally, blossoming into a leading force in the lives of technical professionals and students on college campuses worldwide. NSBE–AEDC has been active in the DC area since the 1990. Upholding NSBE’s visionary spirit, the DC Alumni Extension has been recognized by NSBE as the 2000, 2001, and 2009 Alumni Chapter of the Year and home of the 2009 Pre-College Program of the Year. Our members have also been honored with alumni leader of the year awards, one of the highest awards on the Alumni Extension level for an individual member. To maintain our chapter’s success and continuous improvement, AEDC needs your support! Accordingly, we humbly present our CPP for your review. This document intends to introduce and/or reintroduce you to our chapter with our strategic plans and programs to support the accomplishment of our mission. As a potential Corporate Partner, reflect on the impact a partnership can make on an organization dedicated to uplifting DC metropolitan area in professional development, community service and academic achievement. Upholding the Mission, Propelling Professionals Forward
The mission of NSBE is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who
excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
Vision
The National Society of Black Engineers is an

reach a broader base of students
Improving Partnerships with NSBE Collegiate
Chapters
AEDC partners with collegiate chapters to assist
with its Pre-College Initiative Summit, to provide
workshops on topics such as solar energy and
green business, and to expose engineering
students to corporate professional mentors through
our Coffee and Conversations series.
Impact
With the National Directives as a guide, AEDC has
established goals to maximize its collective potential

program.
Each year NSBE-AEDC strives to increase the amount
of scholarships dollars it awards to outstanding high
school seniors who have been accepted into a four
year college or university and who have declared a
major in a field of science, technology, engineering or
mathematics. Since the chapter’s inception, more than

Innovators Scholarship awarded each year would not
be possible without the undying support of our

the opportunities available through education,
particularly in the STEM fields. Volunteers will walk

2011 – 2012 NSBE AEDC Partnership Levels
Corporate Partnership in Depth
NSBE-AEDC strongly believes in the power of partnerships and collaborative efforts and has a rich history of
working with the corporate sector. Past sponsors have included multi-national corporations, national
companies and small- to medium-sized businesses who share a common vision with AEDC to increase the
number of responsible technical professionals who give back to their communities. Your identity as a
Corporate Partner will provide you with direct access to the pool of talented engineers within the AEDC
chapter who are committed to professional excellence and technical leadership, and it will give you the
distinction of being involved with a respected leader in promoting STEM outreach within the DC metropolitan
area.
AEDC is proud that its main corporate partners continue to renew their support of our chapter programs
despite the recent economic downturn. Through strengthened sponsorship towards scholarships, Pre-
College Initiative and College Initiative activities, we have been able grow our chapter into one of the premier
NSBE alumni chapters in the country. However, we understand that sponsorship comes in many forms and
does not always have to be monetary. There are a number of non-financial needs in the areas of mentorship,
leadership and professional development that we invite you to fulfill, including the following:
Support for our mentoring initiatives by providing networking opportunities in which our mentors and
mentees can take advantage.
Developmental materials for our leadership, i.e. information on project management, communication,
teamwork, etc. AEDC invites you to assist us with professional certifications, classes or company
plant tours.
Interactive workshops for our membership outside of General Body Meetings to develop leadership
skills, career guidance, financial planning, etc.
By working together, we are able to leverage the strengths of the corporate sector and the dedication of our
chapter membership to make a small contribution towards the larger goal that President Obama describes as
―reaffirming and strengthening America’s role as the world’s engine of scientific discovery and technological
innovation‖.
Thank you,
