It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to attend
a National seminar on “BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION: CURRENT STATUS AND FUTURE STRATEGIES” organized
by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Govt. thModel Science College, Gwalior (M.P.) on 30
March, 2016.
Biodiversity is the degree of variation of
life forms. It includes variation among plants,
animals and microorganisms, the genetic variation
among them and all their complex assemblages of
communities and ecosystems. Biodiversity is the
totality of genes, species and ecosystem of a region.
Distribution of biodiversity is not uniform. It
depends and varies according to climate, altitude,
soil structure and presence of the other species of
the area. Biological diversity is the very basis of the
human survival and economic development as it
provides food, housing, clothing, medicine and
industrial raw material and offer a potential for
proving many more yet unknown benefits to
mankind. But industrialization and rapid growth
has destroyed the habitat of plants and animals very
badly. This has created a great problem today.
Proper conservation is the need of the hour.
Preserving the habitat is the most important issue in
the conservation of biodiversity. Conservation is
not possible without public awareness and
involvement of common man. Keeping these facts
in mind, a seminar is being organized to provide an
opportunity to the academicians, researchers and
all those interested in the conservation of
biodiversity to share their views and to find new
strategies to conserve and preserve our motherland.

Research papers are invited from academicians,
scientists, research scholars and all those interested in
the field of biodiversity conservation. Participants
should send their Abstracts in Times New Roman 12
font in MS word at by March
25,2016. The duration of the oral presentation will be 7
minutes.

About the college
Government Model Science College, Gwalior (M.P.)
was established in July 1961. It is a premier institute of
science teaching and research. The college has a long
glorious history. The college was awarded B grade
with 2.79 by NAAC in 2015. Prior to its formal
establishment in 1961, it was known as Victoria
College. The college has grown into a multi-faceted
institute of science teaching and research. The College
is privileged enough to be included in a few colleges
getting RUSA grant under component-7.
