Mr. Jamal Browne was selected to provide coordination, project management and logistical support for the implementation of the project. The project that was officially launched on December 12, 2016, aims to restore the environmental integrity of the South Coast Marine Conservation area by improving the natural marine ecosystem and increase fish biomass; and to prevent and reduce to acceptable levels, land and marine-based stressors and improve the ambient marine water quality. This project is being funded by the German Development Bank (KFW) in collaboration with the CCCCC. The Botanical Garden will host its annual “Nine Nights of Lights” from the 16th -23rd December, 2017 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm nightly. Performances includes: SVG Police Band, Stacy Little and Band, La Gracia Dancers, Sion Hill Pan Group, Rose Hall Drummers and many more. Admission adults $2 children $1. Dark View Falls is situated at the northwest of mainland St Vincent at the southern foot of the La Soufrière Volcano. It takes approximately, a 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Kingstown. The main attractions include a natural Bamboo bridge that leads to two majestic waterfalls, cascading down a high cliff face, which then tumbles into two pools that are ideal for bathing. Facilities at the site includes restrooms, gazebo, viewing platform and changing rooms. The site opens from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.

The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and

Culture began Caribbean Tourism Month

with their annual Thanksgiving Service at

the Peace Memorial Hall on Wednesday 1st

November, 2017, under the theme “Tourism

is Everyone’s Business- Live it, Love it,

Embrace it”.

Coast Marine

Conservation

Area Guardian

Pilot Program

(SCMCA) of

St. Vincent and

the Grenadines, has officially launched the Reef Guardian

School Pilot Program at the Calliaqua

Anglican School on November 6th, 2017.

The Calliaqua Anglican School is part of

the pilot program because of their close

proximity to the South Coast Marine

Conservation Area. The objectives of Tourism Month were: to

raise awareness of the importance of tourism

in the Caribbean, to enhance the profile of

the tourism sector and rejuvenate the

importance of tourism within our

community, to reflect on the invaluable

impact of tourism on the economic, social

and cultural well-being in St. Vincent and

the Grenadines; to attract positive media

coverage for the local tourism product and;

to celebrate the diversity of what the

destination offers. The Ministry of

Tourism, Sports and Culture joined with

the Caribbean in celebrating Tourism

Month.

Tourism Thanksgiving Service

On November 15th, 2017, a field exercise

was conducted along two main (2) river

courses that drain into the South Coast

Marine Conservation Area. The field visit

which was conducted under the Coastal

Rehabilitation Adaptation Project. It sought

to identify the point sources of pollution

along the two rivers. The field exercise had

participation from the Forestry Division, the

Environmental Management Department

the Soil Conservation Unit and the NPA.
