HEY. HI. WHAT’S UP? My name is Natasha Ygsi; I’m a graphic designer and aspiring Art Director

currently studying at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. A dash of eccentricity, a healthy dose of weird, and a heap of enthusiasm equals this creative thinker and dreamer with wide eyes and a thirst to see the world.

Originally hailing from, small-town, St. Joseph, Missouri, I’ve become an observer, challenge-conqueror, and daydreamer of things beyond my city’s limits.

Throughout my time at university I’ve pushed myself to hone my skills and to always think strategically in my designs. I’ve never wanted to be just a good

artist, I want to be a great communicator. I have a passion for what I do which drives me to be better everyday and forces me to take chances that I wouldn’t normally. Many of the freelance opportunities I’ve had can be attributed to my

veracity, passion, and loyalty to my craft.

In addition to the University of Missouri, I’ve also taken classes at the Kansas City Art Institute to strengthen my foundations in design aesthetics and execution. I’m excited for what my future in this industry has to offer and teach me, and I’m not

afraid to work for what I want and believe in.

The average person is bombarded with advertising from the moment they wake up to the moment their heads hit the pillow at night. Breaking through the clutter requires exciting, innovative and simple communication. De-signers are expected to be expert communicators and problem solvers. They understand what excites and interests the consumer and they know how to best communicate a message. Through my series of campaigns I have strived to achieve all of these aspects while maintaining a clear and concise message.

App created as a mobile shop and website. Mainly used for shopping and browsing Mission 1 Products and additions. A game is included for an interactive feature. Racing against the computer to collect as many circuit boards before time runs out while avoiding oil spills.

Interactive welcome page. The user must “plug in” the cord to enter the site. The homepage of the site has a circuit board motif and each section of the site is “engraved” into the board.

When you select and click on a section it will ignite a spark that travels through the circuit board and eventually grows into a full-screen “flash” which acts as a pop-up

screen for that section selected.

“Mission 1 Expert” to convey that the app is full of all the knowledge an owner could need to utilize their bike to it’s full potential. Includes sections such as ; Tips, Connect, Store (to order replacement parts & customize), and The Engineers - where, if you for some reason can’t find the answer on the app, you can type in your unique question for our real experts - the engineers - to answer. The answer will both be sent directly to you and added to the Tips section of the app.

The website functions as a interactive info-graphic for the clean and efficient energy sourced by all Mission 1 Motorcycles., The aesthetic begins blurry, but as you scroll down through the site the image becomes clearer.

This site is for those interested in Mission 1 past the motorcycle culture. Mission 1 recognizes that clean energy for transportation is a concern for a large percentage of

people and want to cater to the questions they may have, Also used as a resource for those who want to learn more about fuel-less operating.

MISSION 1 FOR THE PURE THRILL OF IT

Bike rides through a puddle of water on the side of the road & splashes the camera, covering it. The Bike rides out of shot. Nat sound

The camera zooms out to reveal a clearer picture; the Mission 1 RS in the middle of a serene forest. Heavy beat music starts quite and builds

The camera then zooms slowly as the motorcycle turns on (Lights come on & engine initially revs) Voice over starts: “FOR THE AUTHENTIC RIDE” Music becomes slightly louder but not overwhelming

bike where the shot stops and words appear over it. The music comes to a head and the beat “drops”

fades to black. END

A rider steps onto the bike & begins to drive. The bike drives out of frame and the camera spins to follow it. Music playing

The camera focuses in on the water drops left on the lens with a vague blur of a green-ish background. The water drops slide down the lens. Nat sound

The water drops wipe slide down to revel a pixelated image. Nat sound

Jump cut to in front of the bike on a road where the rider is speeding fast and performing tricks (wheely). VO: “FEEL THE RUSH OF ZERO EXHAUSTS & ZERO EMISSIONS” The camera continues to be in front of the bike for 5 sec. then the bike drives out of shot and the camera spins to follow it. Music still playing - building

For the 2015, 50th Anniversary Mustang we wanted to focus on the concept of untamable freedom. We focused on imagery of literally breaking through barriers. We wanted our campaign to evoke the feeling of being unrestrained.

While the campaign was mainly print, an out of home ad would acompany it. The ad would be a wall decal that was placed on buildings of busy city streets to catch people

who sit in traffic while in the city.

If you’re already familiar with marmite as an american, you might already have a foul association to it. In trying to market marmite to an american

audience, we felt that we should embrace the sort of acquired taste that comes with marmite. Wanting to position the acquired taste as “high class” and

“sophisticated” the “The Working Man’s Caviar” print campaign was born.

The Panhelenic Association (PHA) Recruitment booklet is an annual booklet produced by the University of Missouri every summer before the beginning of the Fall Semester. It is sent out to over a thousand girls in preparation for sorority recruitment. I wanted to stay away from past motifs of

flowers, pastels, birds, and nature in general. For this - the 2015 booklet - I utilized bold, jewel tones and geometric shapes to give the booklet a modern and more streamlined look. Triangles are seen

on every page of the book as well as are bold and stylized typographic headlines. Besides the copy, I had full creative control of the book.

Every semester the University of Missouri showcases big theater films on campus for free or for a dollar. With each semester a Films poster and tri-fold card are produced and distributed around campus to let the students know what will be showing that semester. For the 2014 Spring Films

poster and calendar I had complete creative control over the aesthetic, as long as it evoked springtime in someway. I wanted to keep the design abstract and used spring colors to get across

the spring-like feeling. I created a faux watercolor effect to create the main background for the headlines.

Columbia’s local japanese steakhouse, Kobe, was looking for design options for their updated menu. Currently the menu is extremely basic, fulfilled through a standardized template and even has stock images. For the redesign, I wanted to create something more contemporary that reflected the fun atmosphere of the restaurant. i took my own pictures of dishes and I relied on bold graphics and headlines because the food list is quite extensive and is the real star of

the menu. I kept a bold red as the base color because it is extremely evocative of japanese culture as well as the color of the ties the servers wear at the

restaurant.

When encountered with a branding or logo design I strive to figure out the essence of the brand. What the brand represents, what its purpose is and how they want to be precieved. The answers to these questions serve as my guide to create effective and attractive logos. I believe logos should be simple and reflect the tone of the brand first and foremost. What the brand/company represents should be clearly communicated through a shared understanding of the symbolism used. I want my logo marks to be able to be placed anywhere and everywhere necessary to the brand.

Most of my logo designs are one-off branding requests.

Sometimes it fun to just focus on the design. In doing poster designs I better learn how to use the space I’m given to relay a lot of information, and how to get creative with layouts. I use poster design as a way to experiment with new techniques and aesthetics that I can later simplify and apply to my campaigns. Poster design is where I started. I love taking the information of the event or organization and relaying it in a creative, unexpected way. Because these are all one-off projects, it’s thrilling to know that these designs only live for a short time before their information becomes irrelevant. This makes it even more important to create something that is instantly eye-catching and memorable.

My series of posters are a combination of freelance, work from the Student Design Center, and the Blue Note.
