Why is it called the Orange River?
Colonel Robert Gordon, commander of the Dutch East India Company gave the river its name in 1779
It was named after the Dutch King, William V of Orange
• Source is the Drakensburg Mountain Range
• Highest mountain range in South Africa
• Highest point 3482 metres above sea-level
