Brief Overview
We are still the Newest County Recreation Agency in NC (2006)
A Master Plan was adopted in 2004 – in the process of updating the Master Plan
Hired a director for development of a department in 2006 – we are now a staff of 5.5 (we are still developing a system-wide program)
Working with Towns for development
We assist with Grant Administration/Grant Writing

• Renovation: Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Walking Trail, Picnic Shelters. Nash County P&R wrote this grant for the Town of Spring Hope

Total Customers ? = typically x 3 (mom, dad, sibling or grandparents) so roughly 15,000 customers attending games & practices at parks/gyms/ball fields

Nashville & Rocky Mount both have Parks & Recreation Departments (stars)
We operate programs out of Bailey, Middlesex, Spring Hope, Red Oak and an unincorporated area at Coopers Elementary for basketball (Yellow Smiley)
We charge an annual recreation fee for program services to Bailey, Middlesex, Spring Hope and Momeyer (Red Glows)

Our participation continues to grow – our front office staff is vital to the continuity to everyday flow. Once Bailey-Middlesex Park is complete, we will also need more maintenance staff.

Nash County Parks & Recreation Administrative Assistant Position (Part Time)
Current Spending - $12.10 per hour x 19.5 hrs per week = $12,269.40
PLUS part time $7.50 per hour x 19.5 hrs per week= $7,05.00
Total Current spending for front office staff= $19,319.00
Difference in salary spending is $5,854.96 to make this position full time plus benefits.

Covering roughly 50 acres of land.
* Bailey/Middlesex Park is 65 acres.
Contract the mowing and weed eating for the first year and assess whether we need 1 additional full time staff or 2 permanent part time staff
