DRUG SITUATION REPORT/SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
REPORT FOR INDIA FOR THE MONTH OF
JULY 2016

This report is based on the information received from
various State and Central drug law enforcement agencies
till the end of July 2016. Significant seizures effected
earlier but reported during July 2016 are also
incorporated in this report.

SEIZURES EFFECTED IN THE MONTH OF JULY, 2016
On 01.07.2016, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Neemuch seized 1.750 kg of Opium at Malkheda Fanta, Neemuch. 01 person was arrested.
On 01.07.2016, officers of Customs, Motihari seized 40 kg of Ganja at Motihari. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal.
On 02.07.2016, officers of NCB, Indore Zonal Unit seized 698.800 kg of Ganja at Khandwa City. The contraband was concealed in false cavity made behind coconut sacks in a truck. 03 persons were arrested.
On 02.07.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 6768 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup at residential premises cum godown at 24 North Parganas, West Bengal. 01 person was arrested.
On 03.07.2016, officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized 4.900 kg of Ketamine at Chennai Anna International Airport. The drug was concealed in food packets. 01 person was arrested.
On 04.07.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in co-ordination with BSF, Khemkaran, Punjab seized 985 gram of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.
On 07.07.2016, officers of NCB, Ajmer Sub Zone seized 373 gram of Heroin at Makhupura, Ajmer, 01 person was arrested.
On 08.07.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 3.220 kg of Opium at Furniture Market, Sector-41, Chandigarh. 01 person was arrested.
On 08.07.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 480 gram of Amphetamine at NAC Market, Manimajra. 01 person was arrested.
On 13.07.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone seized 60 gram of Heroin near Balmiki Chwok, G.T. Road, Amritsar. 02 persons were arrested. Further, an amount of Rs. 2,56,000/- was also recovered during search of residential house of one accused.
On 13.07.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Narli, Tarn Taran, Punjab seized 21.000 kg of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.
On 14.07.2016, officers of NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit seized 21.860 kg of Ketamine and 20 gram of MDMA at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. 01 person was arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Malaysia.
On 14.07.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 107.040 kg of Ganja at residential premises & a shop adjoining the residential premises of accused at VPO-Mehadi Bagan, PS - Sadar Thana, Burdwan, Burdwan, West Bengal. 01 person was arrested.
On 15.07.2016, officers of NCB, Jodhpur Zonal Unit seized 5.073 kg of Opium at Village-20BD, Khujuwala, Bikaner. 02 persons were arrested.
On 15.07.2016, based on intelligence shared by NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit the officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized 9.800 kg of Ketamine at Domestic Airport, Chennai. Further, 10.850 kg of Ketamine seized from the residential house of accused at Gafoor Sahib Street, Royapettah, Chennai. The drug was concealed in polythene covers wrapped with carbon papers kept on both sides of handbags. 02 persons were arrested.
On 15.07.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Varanasi seized 2 liters of Acetic Anhydride and 2.000 kg of Heroin at Varanasi. 01 person was arrested.
On 15.07.2016, officers of NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit in coordination with Yelhanka Police Station conducted a joint operation and seized 1.300 kg of Cannabis plants at Poorvankara Appartments. The case was registered by Yelhanka Police Statation.
On 19.07.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone seized 1875 ampoules (75 boxes) of LP Gesic injection and 49 ampoules (02 boxes) of Cupigesic injection containing Buprenorphine in front of Alpha One Shopping Mall, Amritsar. 02 persons were arrested.
On 19.07.2016, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Neemuch seized 5.100 kg of Opium at Jawad Fanta, Neemuch. 01 person was arrested.
On 20.07.2016, officers of NCB, Ranchi Sub Zone seized 90.000 kg of Ganja at Jamshedpur. 01 person was arrested.
On 21.07.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 60.000 kg of Ganja and 12000 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup from the residential premises of accused at Tokipur, Madhyapara Jamsherpur, Hogalberia, Nadia. 01 person was arrested.
On 22.07.2016, officers of NCB, Jodhpur Zonal Unit seized 397 kg of Poppy Straw at Village Veerwaliyon Ka Kheda, PS Bhindar, Tehsil Vallabh Nagar. 01 person was arrested.
On 23.07.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ludhiana seized 5.945 kg of Heroin at Rani Jhansi Road, Ludhiana. 01 person was arrested.
On 23.07.2016, officers of Delhi Police seized 14.200 kg of Mephedrone at Greater Kailash-2, New Delhi. 08 persons were arrested.
On 24.07.2016, officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit seized 205 gram of Heroin and 620 gram of Amphetamine at Uttam Nagar, New Delhi. 03 persons including 01 Nigerian national were arrested.
On 25.07.2016, officers of NCB, Goa Sub Zone seized 33 gram of Ganja at Madgaon Railway Station. 01 person was arrested.
On 25.07.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 629.700 kg of Poppy Straw from a vehicle in follow up operation in connection with the seizure affected on 08.07.2016.
On 25.07.2016, officers of Customs, Guwahati seized 10000 tablets of Amphetamine at Cachar, Assam. 02 persons were arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Myanmar.
On 27.07.2016, officer of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit & officers of West Bengal Excise conducted joint operation and seized 12,760 kg of Poppy Straw from the godown & shop premises at Netaji Subhash Road, Rajakatra, Kolkatal. The case was booked by West Bengal Excise Department.
On 27.07.2016, officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel M/s DHL Express Pvt. Ltd, Rama Road near Kirti Nagar Metro Station, New Delhi and seized 95 gram of Heroin. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA.
On 28.07.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 630 gram of Heroin from a residential premises at VPO Dushatidighi, PS- Kaliachak, Mohonpur, Malda, West Bengal. 01 person was arrested.
On 29.07.2016, officers of NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 2.560 kg of Morphine at Birdaimalu Road, near Balaji Temple, Guwahati. 01 person was arrested.
On 30.07.2016, officers of Customs, Delhi seized 100 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup at IGI Airport, New Delhi. 01 person was arrested.
On 30.07.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Hyderabad busted 01 illicit clandestine laboratory at Putlampally, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh and seized 45.165 kg of Ephedrine & laboratory equipments. 01 person was arrested.
On 30.07.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Visakhapatnam seized 271.020 kg of Ganja at East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. 01 person was arrested.
During the month of July, 2016, officers of Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 140 gram of Heroin, 4.360 kg of Hashish and 141.490 kg of Ganja in 12 cases and arrested 23 persons including 06 Nepalese nationals. The suspected source of the seized drugs in most of these cases was Nepal.
