You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things. NA VONU Issue: 1, 2017 School Fees need to be paid on schedule on a term by term basis to ensure that the children benefit from regular attendance and related advantages. Contact Nana for clarification and advice. Proper school uniform should be worn daily except on physical education and sports days when the school sports outfit should be worn. We cannot have children coming in “adhoc outfit”. Drop off time is best between 7.45 and 8.15am am and pick up time between 2.45 and 3.15pm. There are a few arriving early at about 7.00am and a few late pick up around 4.00pm. Please try to work within the recom- mended pick up schedule as the teachers have other matters to attend to. Collaboration of Teachers and Parents mentioned earlier is an important necessity that has a positive boost on growth and development. Sharing experience and expertise related to school programme activities will definitely enrich the learning experience of all in- volved- students, teachers and parents. Application for Year 1, 2018 closes on 31 st July 2017- end of this month. Interview schedules will come home in August with interviews to take Place on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12 th September (Week 1, Term 3 holiday) Bula vinaka to all TLC family members and friends!! This Na Vonu is coming too late but should be the start up to a more regular schedule. We have covered Terms 1 and 2 of a year full of hope and possibilities. Interesting thematic and Book Chat activities with parental and staff collaboration have definitely made a posi- tive difference. Classroom displays and presentations plus items at our weekly assemblies have reflected aspects of the work cov- ered so far. Changes and adjustments to set programmes had to be made for various reasons. Bad weather conditions in Term 1 have been a major stumbling block: reducing our swim and survive allocated days; plus the postponement and re-allocation of some planned excursion/school visits. Plankton Reports have so far highlighted aspects of the activities planned and executed over Terms 1 and 2. Over time I have emphasized the importance of developing and strengthening a TLC family that will be well prepared to face the challenges that come our way. Weekly virtues in Term 1 such as Love, Respect, Responsibility, Consultation, Collaboration, Co- operation and Unity and those covered in Term 2 such as Determination, Enthusiasm and Tolerance allow the students to chat about their importance in daily life and how they can practically make a positive difference. Working as a team we, parents and teachers, can together boost the growth and development of TLC for the benefit of our children. It is important that we maintain a positive balance between academic activities as a major focus and non-academic and PE/Sports related activities so that we develop within the children the important duality of “a fit mind in a fit body”. All students need to understand and appreciate the importance of physical fitness in developing and maintaining a fit mind, additional to other physical fitness requirements. Term 1 theme on “Growth and Change” offered many opportunities to reflect on related issues with the students. Term 3 and the first few weeks in Term 4 will provide the students the opportunity to participate in a good selection of sports. Netball and rugby are well on track with regular training plus weekly competition. Hockey started its training at the hockey turf over the Term 2 holidays and hope to have better attendance early in Term 3. PLEASE, we need support for soccer. Contact 9345882 if you can assist our future Fiji soccer reps over the next few weeks. Best wishes to all TLC family members and friends!!!! H T Elder Virtue for Week 1 COURTESY is being polite, having good manners and treating people with respect.
