Did awesome work on last piece! Passed it and started The Bee - again, good sight-reading work and was really excited about reading! Plays computer program with dad that really seems to make a difference! Actually a lot more interested in learning to read now. More work on Canon in D.
Back, passed Comin Round the Mountain! Did great work reading next piece - really read a good chunk of it.

Not sure what to do about book - is more or less refusing to read song we're on, should I pass or move to a new book? Not sure. May add Hal Leonard book 1? They use less finger numbers. Real progress in relation to reading by writing though I think. Will be out of town for recital. Wrote song using noteflight?
Comin Round the Moutain, still by ear. Did great spot check reading. Worked on music reading through music-writing - best progress yet? We will see.
Brought in Darkness falls, started approximation. Mostly has Comin Round the Mountain by ear.

Worked with Tim on rhythm for Angel Eyes, definite improvement this week. Talked about using dramatic arm movements for transitions, especially pauses, spot-checked a few places in song. Wants to do Skyscraper or How to Save a Life next.
Doing great, fantastic on Angel Eyes, discussed recital, gave encouragements.
Gave book, first pages were very easy but found good place. C Scale. Played Pride and Prejudice and Jim Brickman for her, she liked so will aim for those for fun music in a few weeks.
Doing great on everything. G scale again. Learned Bb in key of F, dotted half notes. Read some Bartok

Still very good on everything, at better level now in book. G scale. Accents. Will need extra music soon.
Did well with practice, very solid on songs she did, went on herself to various pieces in the book. Learned sharps, flats, naturals, and accents. Took few new songs and G scale.
First lesson. Trial, clearly talented but doesn't remember names of notes above G in treble clef or any bass clef. Read some two hand unison studies for me. Self-motivated, mom says this is her decision. Little sister Laila to take same time lessons with Tim.

Mostly focused on Angel Eyes, she thinks she's horrible, as per discussing the recital and compared to little kids. I gave encouragement - really doing super well on Angel Eyes and in general.
More Angel Eyes again. Learned 2nd chunk of song - only like 8 more bars to learn. Re-discussed recital and gave more encouragement. Bits of progress in book.
Angel Eyes - knows whole song! Probably will not do recital, still want to encourage her to - talk to parents? Learned how to pedal, started adding it to beginning of song.

Did great job on D Scale, will practice one more week hands together. Reviewing both pieces from last week, doing well on recital pieces. Talked with mom about how to help her practice when dad is out of town.
Practiced G scale, 2 hands, recital pieces, a bit of work on Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
Didn't practice much admittedly, still doing well on scale, needs to review songs in book. Needs to pick recital songs. Started "Can You Feel the Love Tonight. Can do but will be a stretch.
Dad says she doesn't know "Kiss the Girl" after all! Doing awesome in technique book though. Fantastic on C scale, started G scale.

Doing great with reading - not notes but intervals. Good steady progress each week. Started "kiss the girl". Awesome hands-separate scale. Added hands together.
Came with Grandmother - need to establish waiting room procedure. Great lesson.
First lesson. Very good at relative reading but can't read notes very well, will need to work on this. Wants to add voice but will need longer lesson.

Back, has trouble with high notes in Reflection even though they are easily in her range - was practicing with youtube instead of CD. Might do Journey to the Past instead of Reflection - both have issues but Journey to the Past less obvious.
Memorized song, did fantastic job. Worked especially on consonants, focusing forwards.
Worked in book this week. Reflection - good sense of relative pitch, sometimes struggles to find initial pitch at beginning of new phrase or after large jump. Good lessons,

First lesson. Discussed what she wants - very mature, loves and writes plays, wants web-show fame a la ICarly, sang "Just Around the Riverbend" from Anastasia. High-range voice, even though says likes pop will probably gravitate more to Broadway. Writes own songs - will listen?

Voice a little hoarse, but great progress on Skyscraper, particularly projecting high note.
Lots of work on Skyscraper, discussed soft palette again, was late so we didn't get to A Thousand Years.
A Thousand Years, better in right key. Worked particularly on diction, needs to support higher middle section of song. Getting Skyscraper in shape for recital.
First lesson back. High range sounds incredible! Started working on "No One" Alicia Keys, may add a broadway song next week.

Lauren still has no book. Did a bit of writing measures that add up to four. Doing awesome with rhythms, and reading in books. Will play first song in the book as a class.
Progress on playing in unison. Lauren keeps forgetting book. Introduced letter names to writing rhythm exercises.
Work on first and second song. All girls doing well, Najya needs work keeping correct fingers on the keyboard. All doing fantastically with rhythms.

Still just Chiso. Did some work in books - might take better to music tree though little mozarts is clearly more engaging.
Only Chiso. Doing really great. Much better with rhythms, can read them by herself now, though still has trouble understanding two beats.
Awesome job with rhythms - can read themselves though not always clap correctly. Good mastery of high/low, black/white, twos/threes, names of keys repeating though don't recognize shape. Ready for book soon?

Good mastering of high/low, ok on higher/lower. Good on listening to sounds high/low, consistent on quarter, half, quarter rests, can find groups of 2 and 3 black notes - may be ready to start in a book in a few weeks

Finished monk piece, started Planetarium and Minuet. Definitely does better when we play together. Good at reading notes but has trouble with sequential alphabet, especially working backwards. Will Downsize to half hour lesson. Dad came in to listen to end of lesson, along with brothers. Kylar wants to start?
Dropping acting. Doing well. Hates two-handed monk song, will need more work on this.
Another hour of just piano. Good note reading process. Mom is getting keyboard to practice with. Started Charlie Brown - left hand jumps are difficult but will get it.
All piano. Made excellent progress with reading. Already good at rhythm. Wants to learn the Charlie Brown song.

Needs instrument to practice with at home, therefore no real progress. Gave script, liked, read through.
Sounds great this week. Mom worried about timing but he's doing ok by me, worked on dialogue a little, talked about backstory.
Monologue sounded good, still working for clarity, started dialogues, learned about backstory, assigned backstory for next week. getting more talkative with me
Fixed some gestures suggested by Aunt. Getting better with everything every week, supposed to write out description in own words. Still needs to be clearer, especially D's on ends of words.

Worked more with tongue out. Kathryn still can;t quite understand. Very good with gestures and character. Will bring dialogue next week.
Added teacher voice and practicing with tongue out. Has true trouble pronouncing "th" as in "the".
Good, much more clear. Aunt came and gave suggestions. Practiced with brother.
First day. Auditioning for big group multi-part audition in Florida for Disney, Nickoldeon, etc. Likes ANT Farm and other disney shows. Age 13. Did monolgue for me, talked about characterization, body stance, speaking more loudly and more clearly.
Gave book. Needs scene, brainstormed, me will write. Moved to 1 hr on Saturdays

Ariella and all Jacobsens much better this week. Made progress on song.
Jacobsens, Lauren, Sarah all missing. Siya will do show. Doing great on their song - need to remember which verse comes first. Sometimes shouting chorus - need to make sure they use "pretty voices" even when being loud - we discussed that we do this by taking deep breaths and making space.
Ariella was a big problem, no sticker and talked to Dad about it. Shannon's sister in for her. First two verses of Who Says, practiced standing in front of mirror.

Sophia antsy but Ariella being mean to her and stubborn is a bigger problem. Kids very rude and ill-behaved, need to be reminded frequently to sing loud. Had to sit on shapes.

Dana not feeling well, but very cooperative. Good progress on song and great in piano. Did shortened segment. Zaina really doing great with reading - I passed her a little early out of her last song because she hated it. Doing very well with the "Shortbread Boogie" as next piece, it has familiar things, learned new jump of 6th, and we analyzed it thoroughly before she started and she's doing great. Did her song perfectly for voice - practiced with Microphone and sang for Mom and Dad.
Zaina conquered her piece but still seems doubtful. Read new piece well but still not confident. Says she has trouble remembering which ways are up and down on the keyboard - will start scales and monkey game next week? Dana brought wrong book and did fantastically in the other book but wasn't terribly cooperative. Good work on singing song though.
Staying!!! Zaina doing really well in her piano book, will be very ready for recital. Dana wants to play both pieces by herself - needs practice on My Favorite Things

Worked with little mozarts. Trouble focusing again. Has quarter notes and rests down in patterns. Need to convince to draw nicely. Has trouble sequencing groups on the piano, has trouble with finger numbers, asked mom to work on numbers at home with him.
Worked with books some more - likes Little Mozarts more but has trouble moving fingers independently. Gets very distracted in class - should face wall next week rather than window?
Really starting to remember high and low on piano, find groups of notes accurately. Not proccessing writing on board. Ready for book? Met dad.

Started Annie Scene. Need to perform for parents in December. Very rude again even after talk, especially Sofia. Caroline absent but everyone doing fairly well. Sent lines home.
Started with acting. Line reading, pretending to be dreaming and waking up, soundscape, VERY rude behavior.
Listened to song with kids - decided to use other version for parents. Performed dance.
Got through as much as we will. I may need to sing a long on the recording.

Passed song in book, took new song, more hands-separate work on the Can-Can, awesome job on Star Wars, did station-jumping practice.
Forgot book, worked on Can-Can instead. Started with ending, hands separate. Will struggle with beginning part - lots of hands moving, gracenotes, etc. Fantastic on Star Wars, slow and steady, very accurate.
Passed Fiesta, onto song with pedal in the book. Great on Star Wars
Good work on Fiesta but needs one more week. Working up Star Wars again for talent show at school and our recital, did a great job on it. Middle section slow but doing great.
