RACE CAREER OVERVIEW

Returning to the dirt is a tough task off of a Stakes effort on the turf. Not for MY SWEET STELLA, who dominated this effort from start to finish. She broke out of the gates with determination gaining a rail spot and a comfortable lead within just a few strides. She sat in the bridle for Jon Court and bided her time on the lead. Turning for home she spurted away with ease and began pulling away to win by as many lengths as she pleased. Jon Court began gearing her down in the last 70 yards, however, she was ahead by 5 ½ lengths before gearing down to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Kentucky Oaks contender and G2 Placed Wicked Lick finished 2nd.

What hasn’t WAYNE LUKAS accomplished in his Hall Of Fame career? He has the most Triple Crown wins at 14 ever and has won 20 Breeders Cup races. At 82 years old he is still training horses at a high level. Based mainly in Kentucky now but spending the winter in Oaklawn Wayne is winning at 9% overall.

MY SWEET STELLA is a multiple Stakes placed three-year-old filly coming off a dominating wire to wire victory at Churchill on June 24th. This filly has won on turf and dirt and seems to just be hitting her best stride. She has competed against the top three-year-old fillies on both surfaces in the country and has finished 2nd to the ultra-talented Chanels Legacy twice in back to back Stakes races. Stakes placed going 6 furlongs and one mile, and multiple length winner going two turns on turf and dirt there is seemingly nothing this filly can’t compete in. By Eskendereya sire of freaky G1 Met Mile winner Mor Spirit this filly is part of Zayat Stables new venture into Horses of Racing Age Sales. After conquering the two-year-old market in 2017 they are offering top quality stock to buyers at the Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale.

She earned an 80 Beyer, 9 Thoro-Graph and and 13 1/2 Ragozin in her WIN on June 24th.

OVERVIEWMY SWEET STELLA

During the Oaklawn Park meeting she competed in four Stakes races (two of them Graded), missing no dances through a four month meeting. She finished 2nd in two of the races behind the very talented four time Stakes winner Chanel’s Legacy going 6 furlongs and one mile. MY SWEET STELLA beat eventual G3 Winner Ever So Clever in the Martha Washington Stakes as well.

The field was very strong, G1 Winner VICTORY TO VICTORY was coming off an im-pressive Allowance win at Keeneland for Mark Casse, and SW/G3P Compelled and SW Dynatail, coming off big Graded Stakes performances. She was returning to the surface she broke her Maiden on impressively after four straight dirt efforts all in Stakes races (two Graded). This is once again a large request of a three-year-old filly. She sat a nice trip through the turn and down the backstretch but turning for home she swung four wide then was forced to swing five wide and flattened out down the lane. Relaxing and “turning off” in dirt races isn’t as important as turf and asking this filly to do that off of four straight dirt efforts was probably a bit too much to ask. She ran a respectable 5th beaten only 4 lengths to a top class group of 3 year old turf fillies.

Unbridled Mo won the G3 Monmouth Oaks with an 84 in 2016, MY SWEET STELLA ran an 80 Beyer in her Allowance score on June 24th. With proper spacing and a slight move up MY SWEET STELLA will be right there in a G3 next month.

Turf or dirt, long or short, and the rest of her three-year-old season to enjoy. The options are deep for this filly. However, the route dirt filly division for older fillies and mares is one of the weakest in the country with often 5 and 6 horse fields. 2018 could be a great year for this filly as well. MY SWEET STELLA has moved forward in her last two starts to run a 9 thoro-graph on both turf and dirt. Her best start came in her 2nd start of the year in the one mile Martha Washington, running 2nd and earning an 8 thoro-graph. Good enough to compete in Listed/G3 Stakes routing on the turf as a 3 year old.

THORO-GRAPH

ESKENDEREYA was one of the best horses Zayat Stables ever owned. He was a brilliant winner of the G1 Wood Memorial and sired MOIR SPIRIT impressive G1 Met Mile winner in June of 2017. The sire was sold to Japan but is just heating up in the U.S., isn’t that always the way it works.

2nd Dam KATIE MCLAURY finished her career with an astonishing 15 wins, and produced the top colt ABBONDANZA who won 7 times and was a multiple Stakes winner and Graded Stakes placed on turf and dirt.

MY SWEET STELLA herself is already multiple Stakes Placed and is forming a pedigree page all on her own.
