This is my story …

Wake up Luyu! WAKE UP! “What?” I said groggily as I got out of bed; “the buffalo are moving, so make your-self useful and help me take down the tipi!” Mother yelled. Again I thought, they moved last week! As soon as we got the tipi down, I got into the back of the *parfleche* with my 4 brothers and we sped off to catch the buffalo. When we found them, they grazing in the field happily. SERIOUSLY! They make us wake up I don’t know how early and they are HAPPY! I am so mad right now, I just didn’t know what to say.

Right now I am so excited!!! I am finally going to be able to weave my own purse thingy! I can’t decide what colors to use; white as the base and red, green, blue, purple, orange and pink, no yellow, yes yellow. I can’t wait to start. I have to use porcupine quills OUCH! I just pricked my finger. It hurts so much, but like that saying “Pretty Hurts”.

Right now we are getting ready for the annual Sioux tribe sun dance! Me and mom are in charge of making my fav dessert … pumpkin pie with berries on the side! The pumpkins are nice and ripe, and the berries fresh from the field. “While it’s cooking over the fire why don’t we go chose what we are going to wear for the dance” my mom said.

The sun-dance is finally here!YAY! I am so excited. I picked this cute deer-skin dress to where. I cant wait to dance! I was looking forward to this day since last year! “Come on Luyu lets go!” yelled mom. “I’m coming, gosh!” as soon as we got there I jumped out of the parfleche and yelled “FREEDOM, at last!” I hurried myself to go to the food. It all looks so delish! I don’t know where to start! I want to go to the jerky but my stomach wants bean casserole. I want the casserole I said to myself. As soon as I took the first bite, it reminded me of all the good memories I had. Then the chief stood up and said “It is now time to dance; please choose a partner and dance around the sacred Manito”.

Summer is here, yuck, double YUCK! Now I have to go and play games in the severe sun on the back of a horse called “Save the girl” which my brothers think is hilarious. Believe me, if I ever get my hands on the boy that made this game up he will lose his HEAD! I will find the nearest tree and bonk his head into it! GRRR! But on the bright side I can spend time with the animals and collect useful items for the future. Plus I can also just lay in the grassy fields watching the clouds go by.

Even though summer was my least favorite season I think I like it better than Spring now. They finally got rid of that stupid game and let me be! Today While laying in the sun I saw 7 deer , 3 antelope, 12 prairie dogs and 1eagle. The deer, and antelope were eating some of the blood red berries and the emerald green pears. The prairie dogs were hiding in the long tall grass to escape the eagle’s eye.

I can finally just stay inside and cook for my family; my favorite thing! ! I cant wait to decapitate a buffalo, I mean cook it. It is so unfair! The boys get all the glory of staying outside and playing, while us girls have to have permission from the Chief!Grrrr! I think it is unfair but as soon as I rang the dinner bell the Chief came and said while the men were eating we girls could play in the snow “Thank-you so much” I said, and ran off to play with my friends.

For now during Spring (YUCK!) I am stuck with my mother cooking and cleaning. I just finished cleaning the floor and putting a new carpet when two of my brothers barged in and tracked mud and grass all over the floor! “Seriously!” I yelled, “get out of the house right now and wipe your FEET!” I screamed. They ran outside and quickly wiped their feet and came back in. “gosh” one mumbled grumpily, “You use to be the one who didn’t care.

The clouds are starting to swirl, Dust is rising… it’s a tornado! “RUN, HIDE!” the chief screamed, “TAKE COVER, AND PACK!”. I started to run towards the tipi to help pack it, and then their was the earsplitting roar of the tornado! I got on to the back of my brothers horse and we sped off towards the others.

I am so scared right now! Last week there was a horendous tornado! For now I am just sitting outside, trying to get to know our place better. “ BEAR!” someone cried. I saw the outline of a middle sized brown bear, “AHHH!” I screamed, it was coming right at me! Then all of a sudden it stopped right in front of me, I wasted no time and ran!

I think my tribe is pretty safe… for now. I am also guessing that we will have enough food for winter, even if it’s a lot of jerky. I still am not sure if we are going to have something to drink for a while, but we could get liquid from our foods. Sooooo yeah, we are pretty safe, FOR NOW!!!

I learned from doing this project that History could be fun, NEVER believe stereotypes and that Put… EFFORT, LOGIC AND FUN into you work!

I liked the fact that it made us work hard, think and actually have like a goal to complete. I disliked the fact that I had to look all around the web and library looking for sources.

I think I would deserve a(n) A or B because I worked really hard, I was creative, and I did my best to do first person point of view and graphics.
