A regular consignor at the annual yearlingsale series, MVL manager Verna Metcale saysthis years Scone Yearling Sale oers buyers anopportunity to tap into some solid pedigreesat good prices.

Te Scone Sale has been split across 2 daysthis year. Its always a good sale to pick upa well priced horse and we are expecting agood turn out given the Race Club is host-ing its inaugural 2-day race carnival this yearincluding a stand alone Saturday meeting. Wealready know rom the local accommodationbookings just how many people plan to be inScone across that week and thats good newsor people wanting their yearlings to be seen.

Te HBA Yearling Sale is a airly smallsale on the annual calendar but when you sitdown and do the maths the stats. are impres-sive. Tey become even more so when you

consider that the sale graduates dont comerom phone book sized catalogues.

Te Scone Sale has produced the recentGroup 1 winners HOT DANISH andSMALL MINDS. Ten you have graduateslike YOUTHFUL JACK, WELKOM GOLD,STAR OF OCTAGONAL etc. Its air to sayScone punches well above its weight!

proven sires as well as young stallions; all hail-ing rom a good mix o emale amilies.

Much interest is expected inLOT 56- the bay fllyout o Gr 3 winner and Gr 1 placegetter CORNWALLQUEEN. A rarity, the flly is the only yearling byIFFRAAJ to be oered in Australia this year.

Iraaj (by Zaonic, and out o a hal sister to CAPE

CROSS) was imeorms highest rated speed horse oEurope in 2006, retiring with an International Ratingo 128. At stud Iraaj has been a sensation: siring more

juvenile winners (including Gr 1 winner WOOTTONBASSETT) than any European stallion in history. Hisfrst NZ crop yearlings averaged $101,500 or the 47sold (top price $540,000) and were snared by such good

judges as Peter Moody, Mark Kavanagh, John Foote,Michael Wallace, Paul Moroney, Paul Willetts, Ric Con-nolly etc.

LOT 127- a colt by the same sire as ChampionGalloper STARSPANGLEDBANNER (Choisir), outo the 8-time winner Lyn's Money. Tis colt has morethan good breeding on his side. He is the hal brotherto last year's winner o the $101,600 Inglis Challenge -OKANE - a colt also consigned by MVL.

"Okane has been a great advertisement or the mare," saysVerna. "He was her rst oal to race and this colt lookseven better at the same stage. Choisir has done a greatjob at stud and this colt has done everything right sincecoming in or his prep."

Attitude is an integral part o uture race success and

much is thereore expected o LOT 169 - an eyecatching daughter oNot A Single Doubt.

"She is a model o her ather and is one o the most proes-sional llies I have ever worked with. She is all class ," saysVerna.

With the Arrowfeld based son o Redoute's Choiceproducing this year's Magic Millions winner KARUTAQUEEN plus a slew o other black type horses one canwell appreciate MVL's enthusiasm at consigning thisquality flly.

Tis lly is a good type - looks very much like Ifraaj - and has prepped well. A lot o people looking at buying a lly

also want some residual on the page and this lly can ofer that.
