yOU MAy HAvE ALREADy SEEN THE ARTWORK THAT HAS REPLACEDTHE DAMAGED CRUCIfIX ON THE fRONT WALL Of THE NAvE OfST CUTHBERTS. THE COLOURED WOOD CARvING WAS CREATEDBy MURRAy MARTIN AND IT IS RICH IN SyMBOLISM. MURRAy HASOffERED SOME WORDS DESCRIBING WHAT IT MEANS TO HIM - KEEPTHEM IN MIND WHEN yOURE CONSIDERING WHAT IT MEANS TO yOU.

Humanity was, and is, the real cross that Jesus had to carry. This is meant tobe representative of the kaleidoscopic wonder issuing from the rich diversity of cultures found in the world. All people fall under the umbrella of Gods love.

The centre piece is dinkum, red, Aussie desert sand and it holds the empty tomb.

Above, The Ascension Christ rises anked by James and John in deferenceto their mothers request.

Peters inverted cruci xion appears at the foot of the cross anked by Paul, the founder of the church, on the right in stained glass and the female gurerising from darkness to light on the left could be Mary Magdalene.

There are other speci c, identi able representations - Aboriginality, colonialism, the Episcopate, hanging by a thread and more. Not all the gureshave identity. There is space for personal understanding and c ontribution.
