    Visit from Councillor Andrew Montague

On Wednesday 10th April, we had a very special guest visitor Councillor Andrew Montague, former Lord Mayor of DublinAndrew had previously heard us perform at the LiFT Youth Arts Festival Gala Showcase at TheHelix, DCU, and he came along to our first rehearsal at the MACRO Centre.Over the past year, everyone has learned many skills which are important, such as warm-upexercises and correct posture, and we all got certificates, which recognise the hard work, whichwe have all put into our singing.

Andrew has decided to become our Choirs First Official Ambassador. He will promote our choirand help us with some fundraising activities. He really entertained us by playing guitar andsinging The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel, and we finished rehearsal with Rockin andRollin an all-time favourite!

    National Stroke Survivors Day

On Friday 26th April, our choir were invited to perform at the first ever National Stroke SurvivorsDay. This event was organised by the Irish Heart Foundation, and took place in the GibsonHotel, beside the O2.National Stroke Survivors Day was a positive opportunity for stroke survivors, and their friends, families and carers to come together and share experiences. Singing is known to help strokesurvivors to regain speech, concentration and memory skills, as well as helping to reducestress. We are very keen to hear from stroke survivors, their friends, families and carers. Many people at the conference expressed their admiration for our choir and were singing andclapping along!Thank you to everyone from our choir, to Grace for adding the cute factor and to Corina fortaking these wonderful photos!

The day ended with a very pleasant surprise, when some eagle-eyed members of our choirspotted Simon, Lee and Antony from boyband Blue at the other side of the room. They hadcome to Ireland to promote their reunion tour. They were really nice guys and of course, thankyou to Aine for asking them to pose for photos with us!
