Page Two St. Cyril of Jerusalem April 9, 2006 Operation Rice Bowl (ORB) 2006 The story of the anointing of Jesus is one of the few stories that appears in all four Gospels. As people begin to grumble about the cost and waste of perfume, Jesus responded: “You will always have the poor with you and be able to do something good for them.” As we continue our ORB journey, let us remember in prayer that as a community of faith, we have the obligation to reach out to those in great need. The Gospel specifically calls us to take action on behalf of the most vulnerable mem- bers of society. May our fasting move us to action on behalf of the poor. May our almsgiving assist the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program in the U.S. 75% of your contribu- tions to ORB supports CRS programs around the world. The remaining 25% of your contributions stay in the Dioceses in the U.S. to assist local hunger and poverty alleviation pro- grams. NOTE: Please remember that Nils and Teresa Montan will be collecting your Rice Bowl offerings the weekend afte r Easter Sunday, on April 22 and 23 at the Pavilion Area.
