    TheTobaccoUsePreventionandControlFoundation'smissionwastoreducetobaccouseamong

    Ohioans,withanemphasisonreducingtheuseoftobaccobyyouth,minorityandregionalpopulations,

    pregnantwomen,andotherswhomaybedisproportionatelyaffectedbytheuseoftobacco.

    AgencyRole

    MuseCommunicationsservedastheAfrican-AmericanagencyofrecordontheStateofOhioTobacco

    UsePreventionandControlFoundation(TUPAC)STANDAnti-Tobaccocampaign.

    Thecampaignincludedaninter-agencyteamleadbyNorthlichCommunicationsthatworkedtowarddevelopingacommunicationsplatformdesignedtoconnectwithothertobaccocontrolandhealth

    organizations,minorityandyouthorganizations,andcommunityandhealthleadersthroughoutOhioin

    aprogramcalledstandUpCommunities.

    CreativeDevelopment

    MuseCommunicationscreatedanawardwinningTV,printandradiocampaigncalledHitMan,which

    receivedseveralnominationsforoutstandingpublicservicecampaign.Withinthefirstsixmonthsofthe

    campaign,therewas90percentaidedcampaignawareness.Unaided,awarenessamongourtargets

    increasedby35percent.

    Results

    From2004to2006,therewasa30%reductionintobaccouseamongOhiohighschoolstudentsand38

    percentreductionamongmiddleschoolstudentsfasterthanthenationalaverage.Nearly500,000

    Ohioyouthaged11to14werethreetimeslesslikelytosmoke.
