Marathon The Racers’ 11-8 win over Alcorn State on February 20 in 16 innings is the second-longest game played in conference history, behind only the 17-inning games played by Jacksonville State (2014) and Austin Peay (2002).

Racers Picked Seventh in OVC Poll MSU received two first-place votes and a total of 110 points in the Preseason OVC Baseball Poll announced earlier in February.

Trio Named Preseason All-OVC Adam Bauer, Tyler Lawrence and Ramsey Scott were all named to the Preseason All-OVC Team as voted on by the league’s coaches and SIDs. Lawrence and Scott were First Team All-OVC selections in 2016 while Bauer was a second team honoree.

All-OVC Honors Adam Bauer, Tyler Lawrence, Jaron Robinson and Ramsey Scott all earned all-OVC honors a season ago. Lawrence and Scott earned First Team All-OVC selections while Bauer was a second team honoree and Robinson was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2016.

On-Base Machine Adam Bauer began last season with a school record 50-game on-base streak. It was the longest such streak in the country at the time it ended.

Among the National Leaders Adam Bauer ranked second nationally and set a new program record with nine triples in 2016. Bauer also ranked third in the nation averaging 1.20 runs scored per game and his 67 runs were the seventh-best in the country and third-most in program history.

Winning Marks The 15 OVC victories last season set a new program record and the 27 wins a season ago were the most since 2010.

OVC Tournament ExpansionThis season, eight teams will qualify for the OVC Tournament held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. In previous seasons, only six teams advanced to the tournament. The tournament will open with the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds playing one another on Tuesday, May 23.

Reagan Field UpgradesNearly $1 million of renovations have been spent on Johnny Reagan field over the past two-plus years. In the spring of 2014, a brand new grandstand with chairback seats were added. In 2015, lights were installed at the field and MSU played its first home night

game in program history on April 2 against Jacksonville State. In the summer of 2015, a new irrigation system was installed and construction on a brand new, state-of-the-art pressbox was completed in the fall of 2015. The new pressbox features a main press area, along with a radio booth and an Alumni/Coach Johnny Reagan Suite. Last fall, the infield was laser-graded and re-sodded as well. In April a new outfield wall was installed.

Summer Head Coach for Brazos Valley Bombers (2007). Assistant Coach at Central Missouri (2006- 2008) Associate Heaad Coach at Saint Louis (2008-2014). Head coach at Murray State (present).

Kevin Moulder enters his third season as the head coach of the Racer baseball program in 2016-17.

In 2016, Moulder helped lead the Racers to a program record 15 conference wins. MSU’s 27 wins overall that season are the most since 2010. The Racers ranked in the top-40 nationally in seven statistical categories, including 19th in runs scored (7.4), 27th in team batting average (.304), 17th in on-base percentage (.401) and seventh in doubles per game (2.36).

Moulder also helped guide four student-athletes to All-OVC honors in 2016, the most single-season accolades since 2010. Tyler Lawrence and Ramsey Scott both earned first team honors while Adam Bauer was named to the second team and Jaron Robinson was an All-Freshman Team selection.

Moulder took over the Racer program after seven very highly successful seasons as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Saint Louis. He helped lead the Billikens to three-straight Atlantic 10 regular-season championships, two A-10 tournament championships and a pair of NCAA Regional appearances.

In Moulder’s inaugural season with the Racers, catcher Tyler Lawrence was named a Second Team All-OVC performer.

While at SLU, the Billikens have broken the single season wins record three times and have recorded five 30+ win seasons. Saint Louis won the Atlantic 10 regular season title in three consecutive seasons from 2012-14.

Moulder took the Billiken pitching staff to new heights. His pitchers broke four single season records and three career records. In 2012, Moulder’s staff boasted a 1.17 WHIP, which was sixth-best in the nation. They also cracked the national top 20 in Walks per Game (2.35, 11th), Strikeout to Walk Ratio (2.35, 13th) and ERA (3.06, 17th). Moulder also coached Travis Parker in a terrific senior campaign where he did not allow an earned run all season, en route to a All-America selection. The 2012 staff also lead the A-10 with a 3.06 ERA.

Moulder has coached more than 40 players who have either been drafted or have gone on to play professional baseball, including Brian Schlitter, Tom Layne and Deunte Heath who have all played in MLB games. Dave Sever and Zach Outman were MLB draft picks under Moulder.

Prior to his time at SLU, Moulder spent two seasons at Central Missouri. He helped the Mules to 95 wins in two seasons, including going 51-13 record and the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship in 2006. His 2006 pitching staff that boasted a 3.08 ERA with eight shutouts.

Moulder began his coaching in 2004 as an assistant at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, where he had four pitchers sign with Division I programs.

In 2005, Moulder moved on to Lake City (Fla.) Community College as an associate coach, and guided a team that included nine players selected in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, the second-most of any college level.

Moulder also has a variety of experience as a head coach in summer college baseball leagues. He spent the summer of 2007 leading the Brazos Valley Bombers to the Texas Collegiate League playoffs for the first time in franchise history. In 2006, Moulder guided the Laramie Colts to a 32-18 record and the franchise’s first Mountain League championship.

As a player, Moulder began his career as a pitcher at Forest Park. He earned all-region honors in helping the Archers to the 2001 NJCAA World Series. Moulder transferred to Murray State in 2002 and helped the Thoroughbreds to the 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Moulder graduated from Murray State in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication. He earned a master’s in sports administration from Central Missouri in 2007.

Kevin and his wife, Tess, have a daughter, Ellie and a son, William.
