This was and still is the simple and honest mission with which Ieva Dexter and Elina Cima created the Munio Candela brand and the first collection of candles in 2008.

In Latin, Munio Candela means “the most spiritually powerful candle”. Every candle is carefully andlovingly made by hand using only 100% natural soy wax and aromas. Nurtured by Latvian master crafts-men, the candles feature high quality design. Each collection has a candle and packaging design personal-ity of its own, underscored by the use of a recycled cardboard aesthetic. The World Packaging Organiza-tion recognized this by awarding Munio Candela the Grand Prix for the best eco packaging in the world in 2010.

THE CANDLE MAKER

The emerald green bottle that once held a wine with an exquisite bouquet is now a cast for a candle. With great care, as if it were a fragile gem, the candle maker arranges the wick. Just a moment, it’salmost ready! And caressing the wick like a time honoured friend, the warm soy wax flows into the glass. With the aromas of tart orange, fresh mint and confident ginger. With the smells of world travelledcacao, relaxing vanilla and sweet rose garden too.

Then come the wax rounds with cinnamon sticks and bilberry leaves. And the juniper candle in a clay pot. And the candle in a tin can as if swiped from an artist’s studio. There’s more. WHY SOY WAX?

Munio Candela candles are completely handmade by masters using only 100% natural andGMO free soy wax, the finest lead free all cotton wick, natural fragrances and essential oils.

WHAT IS SOY WAX? Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature.The left over bean husks are commonly used as animal feed.
