Mudgeeraba Foundation
Football Gold Coast are delighted to welcome back The Mudgeeraba Foundation as a key sponsor of women’s
football in 2017! Founded by Dr. Peter Ochsenbein in 1999, the foundation aims to actively support organisations and
individuals in the local community.
The Mudgeeraba Foundation will be starting an initiative with Football Gold Coast angled towards the support of individual female footballers. The initiative will look to
support girls and women to be part of football in any way possible.
We thank Dr. Ochsenbein again for his continuous support of women’s football on the Gold Coast!
GM Address
I wish everyone a warm welcome to our 2017Women’s Premier League Grand Final Day. I wouldlike to acknowledge and extend a special welcome toall our sponsors, distinguished guests , officials, players and supporters of Women’s football on theGold Coast , thank you and welcome and I hope youall enjoy the day.
2017 started disappointingly with 4 hubsrelinquishing their licenses and FGC being forcedto redo the draw with only 6 hubs making it to thestarting line. However, what had started under aheavy mist has finished in bright sunshine with one ofthe most even competitions culminating in a muchanticipated Grand Final.
Even though we had the disappointment of 4 hubsnot continuing, the introduction of the Women’sMidweek Metro League was a huge success andmade up for the loss. I can confirm that the Women’sPremier League will be around in 2018 and we areopening the net to other clubs to join the family byentering teams in the Premier League. Furthermore, the Metro competition will be based on divisions withthe top 4 teams in both Pink and Purple from 2017being the foundation of Metro Division 1 in 2018. Weare trying to entice more women to play the gameand we believe by having “like v like” divisions itmight add to the attraction. Let’s wait and see. Wehave other ideas on the table which will be revealedat a later date as today is about the Grand Finalists.
I would like to congratulate all our Grand Finalists onmaking it this far. It is not every day that you get theopportunity to play in such a high profile game andtoday is the culmination of a lot of work from a lot ofpeople so well done to you all. Play well and mostimportantly enjoy the day.
Finally to Gerry, Therese and everyone atSouthport Soccer Club thank you for hostingus today. It is a great venue with greatpeople involved and I am sure they will puton a greatand memorable day.
In closing I wish to thank all our players, officials, referees, parents, volunteers andeveryone else who puts in many thanklesshours to ensure our game gets played andpeople have fun. Without everyone's driveand passion we would have nothing.
Enjoy and see you all in 2018.

We were happy with the league win thisseason as the girls have put in a lot ofwork to get here. Now we have onemore game to get the job done to cap offa great season for the club and ourwhole team. We know the threat Robinapose up front as we found out only a fewweeks ago but we will make someadjustments and hopefully we cancounteract their style of play. I amconfident in my girls that if we play theway we can and execute what wepractice in training on the field we cancome through and put ourselves in thebest possible position to win the game. Ican’t wait for it to finally get under way!

Grand finals bring out the best ineveryone so I expect a fantasticshowcase of football with flare in attack, great passing and tough defence.Southport have a balanced team withdangerous players and years ofexperience. We have won 4 games in arow with 3 of them being sudden deathand our last game was the best we haveplayed all year. Whatever happens, theclub and I are very proud of our playersfor enduring the downs of the middle ofthe year and finishing strongly. I hopethe Gold Coast football communitycomes out to show their support forboth games. I can’t wait!

Daniel Lund- Pre-MatchI think it’s going to be a really hard game from minuteone to end. Robina have had a very strong back half ofthe season and have always been hard to beat againstus. It’s been a battle every game and the highintensity could go either way. Hopefully our girls canlift for the final. This week our training has been solidand the girls have definitely stepped up.Communication is good so I believe that if we canexecute the same mentality and concentration wehave had at training and replicate that on Sunday thatwe have a very good chance of pulling it off andwinning the double.

Paul Rushton- Pre-MatchMusgrave were deserved Premier and have been thebenchmark all year. They normally play at PremierLeague speed and have class across the park. We havecompeted for large periods of several of our gamesagainst them but the little things have let us down.We have hit our straps at the right time however with4 wins in a row, all sudden death matches for ourfinals chances. They will need to be at their best tobeat us. No matter what, our girls have donethemselves and the club proud, to have both of ourteams make the Grand Final along with 3 girls teams isa sign that we have put a lot of the right things inplace for the development of females playing football.Bring on Sunday!
