22According to the INSEE (French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), consumer prices rose by 0.2% in Réunion last December following the Yellow Vests crisis.

Four earthquakes are measured off the coast of Terre-de-Bas Island by OVSG-IPGP (Guadeloupe Volcano Observatory at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris) with an interval of less than 24 hours.

23Juan Guaido, the president of the Venezuelan National Assembly and leading opponent of Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's president, declares himself as acting president. Donald Trump immediately recognises the motion.

Pope Francis visits Panama, where he is expected by over 150,000 young Catholics from 155 countries during the 34th World Youth Day. Among them are some one hundred Overseas Territories residents.

It is 10 years since the national strike led by the LKP (Liyannaj Kont Pwofitasyon) started: On 24 January 2009, when the movement was at its most active, over 60,000 Guadeloupians took to the streets to put across their anti-exploitation message: “kont la pwofitasyon”. In total, 44 days of impassioned and tense demonstrations follow, which are marked by violent clashes with the public order forces and the death of the trade unionist Jacques Bino.

Great National Debate: This is the fourth time that French President Emmanuel Macron has held talks with the mayors, who have come here this time from the Overseas Territories specifically for this purpose. Just over 60 (of the 130 invited) Overseas Territories’ elected officials of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Réunion, Mayotte and Saint Pierre and Miquelon took up the offer of a trip to the Elysée Palace, accompanied for the occasion by a few regional presidents and parliamentarians.

Main characteristics of the survey

The Métridom survey of January-June 2019 on radio was carried out between 7 January and 9 June2019 in Caribbean and between 21 january and 9 June in Reunion, using a sample of 5 220 individualswho were representative of the population aged 13 years and older (1740 by departments). They weresurveyed in French or Creole by means of computer-assisted telephone interviews.

35% of these interviews were conducted using a mobile phone.
