Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:40-47 What we learn here is that the church is people who, as they follow Jesus in their own lives, live in community with one another. Community means supporting one another, loving one another, helping one another, accepting one another, having fun with one another, learning from one another ... because of Jesus. The church is a community created by Jesus, and that's what we're trying to build here at Mt. Zion Christian Church. This month we have many opportunities for you to grow deeper in your fellowship with this community. On Monday, October 3 rd the Ladies Fellowship is taking gift bags to a local nursing home. They meet on the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. On October 8 th , our missions team is hosting a Hog Roast here at the church. The supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the movie “Soul Surfer” in our sanctuary. This will be a really fun evening, and I’m sure the food will be delicious! On October 15 th , I am leading our monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Men, this is a great time to get to know some other guys in our church. Breakfast is freshly made and delicious, but most importantly we spend time petitioning our heavenly Father on behalf of our church family, leaders, our youth and community. Men, let me encourage you to mark your calendars every third Saturday from 8-9 a.m. Every Tuesday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. our Quilters meet to make quilts for various missions that we support. Check our newsletter for even more opportunities to grow in your relationships with your church family. Hog Roast

The Mission Team is

beginning to collect hats and

gloves for the homeless so we

will be able to get these

delivered before the cold

weather comes. A container

will be placed in the

fellowship hall for the

collection.

The Mission Team has started a

weekly food drive to collect

nonperishable items for the food

baskets. It may be the first of

October, but in order to make

Thanksgiving possible for the less

fortunate the

baskets will

need to be

delivered in

just 8 weeks.

Our Annual Veterans Program will be

Sunday, November 6, 2011. We will be

blessed by "Sincerity Southern Gospel

Quartet" providing our evening with

special music starting at 5:00pm. The

evening meal will start at 6:00pm with a

potluck. Provided for the meal will be fried

chicken, coffee, tea and the table service.

We ask that you bring a dish or two to

share. Also, following the meal will be

some special music from the gospel quartet.

Please make plans to be a part of this

evening as we honor all who have served

and are now serving our country.

With fall coming up, the

youth are looking for

service projects to help

raise money for their activities. If you are

interested, or know of someone who is

interested, please email Cody at
