There are many different interesting hobbies in the city of San Francisco, one is sports. As a child, I grew up in a world of sports. “Eat, breath, and sleep sports” seemed to be the motto in my household. I had a strong interest in many different sports growing up. I was involved in playing softball as a child until high school. I love the fun and excitement that came with rooting for my favorite team as well as playing in the action.

The interest has not faded, and to this day I follow my favorite sports teams. I chose to create this magazine, Sports Fanatic, as another form in which people can update themselves on games, events, hot spots or activities in the world of sports, specifically in the Bay Area. This edition will cover all Bay Area baseball teams. From the Oakland A’s to the San Francisco Giants, all baseball fans will be informed about their favorite baseball team. Sports Fanatic is for those fans who need an easy way to read about their favorite sports team in one area. This magazine holds information about sporting events from college to professional sports. It has interesting facts about their teams that they may not have known. It also contains information about different hot spots that those sports fans can go to where their favorite sports team is most popular. With this magazine I want to better inform the bay area sports fan about their favorite teams’ current events. Sports Fanatic is different from other magazines because it holds information exclusively about bay area sports. It is Bay Area oriented and geared towards what is most important about sports. My goal is to have a fun and entertaining way for everyone to learn more about their team as well as other bay area teams.

2 In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, chocolate syrup, oil, bourbon and eggs until well blended. Spread in pan.

Spiked Football Brownies HOW to

Have a Tailgate Party

1 Prepare as much food ahead of time as you can. Keep foods simple and easy to eat. Finger foods are best, since it can be difficult for tailgate partiers to sit and eat with utensils. Classic tailgate party foods include hot dogs, burgers or brats cooked up on a portable grill. Other excellent options are pizza, chicken wings or sub sandwiches.

2 Keep food safe by having a sufficient amount of ice chests and ice for cold foods and a way to keep hot foods warm, unless you are eating them immediately. Have a variety of non-perishable items on hand such as chips, nuts and jerky.

3 Bring plenty of supplies. Along with a grill and charcoal, you will need paper plates,

“Tailgate parties before foot-ball games are a uniquely

American tradition. Whether you’re at a big NFL show-down or to cheer on your

state college, you can have a blast at a tailgate party.”

By Tielle Webb, eHow Contributor

napkins, condiments, ice, a radio or portable television set,

disposable cups and trash bags to clean up after your gang.

4 Consider packing some blankets to sit on and a tablecloth to spread food upon. If you have enough room, you might be able to set up an umbrella with a stand and some chairs or a small table. If you have not been to this location previously, plan on sitting on the ground or on your tailgate.

5 Design a way for your party group to meet up. You might want to purchase some mylar balloons and attach them to long twine that will show above the crowd.◊

1 cup brown sugar

4 Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan. With football-shaped cookie cutter, cut brownies into football shapes. Spread frosting on brownies. Pipe on decorating icing to look like football laces.

3 Wrap 1⁄3 of each bacon slice around a smokie and secure it with a toothpick. After you have wrapped all of the smokies, place them on the baking sheet and sprinkle brown sugar on top of each smokie.

4 Bake sausages for 40-45 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the brown sugar has melted.

5 Serve immediately or keep warm in a slow cooker.

11⁄2 cups cheddar cheese

1 tomato, seeded and chopped 1⁄4 cup chopped green onions

Additional green onions, cooked bacon, tomato, and lettuce for garnish, if desired

1. The Giants were the first team to retire a number. Although two-way lineman Ray Flaherty is not in the Hall of Fame as a player (he made it as a coach in 1976), his 10-year playing career was good enough that the Giants took his No. 1 out of commission upon his retirement in 1935.2. The Giants have played in and lost more NFL championship games than any other team. The Giants have appeared in 16 NFL title games, ahead of Green Bay (12) and Dallas (10). They’ve lost 12 of those, all in the pre-merger era. The Frank Gifford/Alex Webster-led Giants were the precursor of the Jim Kelly Bills, losing four titles in five seasons from 1959-1964 and going into a similar tailspin after that unsuccessful run at glory.3. The Giants broke out a “futuristic” new logo in 1975 that had about as much staying power as the pet rock. Giants Hall of Famer Andy Robustelli took over GM duties before the 1975 season, and he had always wanted to update the classic “NY” that used to grace his helmet. So he hired a hip design firm to turn out this abomination, which was about as good as the Giants were under Robustelli’s watch. Five years and a 25-49 record later, he was replaced by George Young for the 1980 season. Young, who looked a little like an alien, would turn the franchise around with the hiring of Bill Parcells as head coach.4. Giants players threatened a walkout in 1981 if rookie Lawrence Taylor was given an “outlandish” three-year, $750,000 deal.Twenty-five years doesn’t seem like a long time, but in terms of NFL inflation, it was another epoch. When Taylor asked for $250K a year – more than veteran standouts – old-schoolers were ready to rebel. No one went on the record about it, but linebacker Brad Van Pelt admitted that there was a movement afoot. Taylor got his money and earned his keep, and when he signed his last Giants contract in 1993, it was for two years and $5.5 million. Last year, the average NFL salary was $1.4 million.
