Step by Step Procedure:

1. We need to start the project from 01/10/2009. To change the start date of the project, goto Project Project Information Start Date. Change the start date to 01/10/2009

2. Before defining the project activities, we need to create the calendar. The above projectactivities are in days and need to do the above project six days per week. By default,standard calendar is the project calendar. But this project has to be done six days perweek. So we will see the procedure to create a six day calendar and will assign the same

as project calendar. To create a calendar, go to Tools Change Working time. To createa new calendar, click on Create New Calendar button. Give the name as Six Day and se-lect Create a copy of Standard.

3. Select the Work Week Tab and click on Details button. Select Saturday and Select Set day(s) to these spe-

cific working times and give the working time as shown below

4. Now we have to assign the Six day calendar as Project Calendar. To assign the newlycreated calendar as project calendar, go to Project Project Information. Select Six Dayfrom Calendar tab as shown in following figure.

5. Now will define the activities as shown below. Type all the activities in Task Name Col-umn and give the respective activities duration and predecessor in Duration and Prede-cessor Column respectively.

6. To see the Total duration of the project, go to Tools options View. Click on ShowProject Summary Task Button as shown in following fig. We can see the total duration

of the project from task sheet itself.

7. Now Let us see the procedure to allocate the resource. Resource has two steps. Step1

Create a resource pool. Step 2. Allocate the required resources to each activity.a. Creation of Resource Pool: Go to View Resource Sheet. Define all the re-

sources and give the respective max units and Std Rate.

Note:

By default, Std rate will be in $. To change to Rupees, go to Tools Option View tab. In the symbol, type as Rs.

Cement and Sand has to be considered as Material resource. By default all theresource will be considered as Work resource. To change as material re-source, change the type as Material.

8. Now let us the see the procedure to allocate the resources to each activities. We have to

go back to the previous view. To go to Gantt chart view, click on View Gantt Chart.Before allocating the resources, select all activities, go to Project Task InformationAdvanced Tab. Remove Effort Driven Button as shown in following fig.

9. Now let us see the procedure to allocate the resource for Preparation of Tender Activity.Select this activity and go to Tools Assign Resources. We require One Engineer andOne Office Assistant for this activity. Select one each from units column.

10.Allocate the resource for remaining activities. Inputs have been given and apply theabove procedure.

Updating the Project:

11.Now Let us see the procedure to track the project. First this project has to be saved asBaseline Project. To save the baseline, go to Tools Tracking Set Baseline.Go to Tracking Gantt View. View Tracking Gantt.

12.We need to update this project as on 01/11/2009. Update the actuals by changing the Ac-tual values of start date, Finish date and Duration. To change the actual change the val-

ues in duration, start and finish columns. Give the % Completes also. To change the %Complete, Select the respective activity and go to Project Task Information Gen-eral Tab. Give % Complete value as shown in following fig. Assume that duration hasbeen taken 22days instead of 20 days to complete.

13. Same like that whatever the activity has to be started/finished, update those activities.You can see the deviation in the bars.
