Using Transparencies:-

To use transparencies in an MSP you need to have “S4BG68” type transparency film, as per the

below table shows, your paper supplier will be able to provide this for you:-

The MSP will also need to be left alone to cool down for a period of time, without anyone using the

device at all, before the transparencies are loaded into the device. Failure to do this will result in the

transparencies being melted inside the device causing significant damage to the MSP.

We would recommend opening the right hand door on the device and leaving the MSP door open for

15 minutes before using the device with transparencies.

Inserting transparency film

• Use SHARP-recommended transparency film.

When inserting transparency film into the bypass tray, the rounded corner should be at the front

left when the film is placed in the landscape orientation, or at the far left when the film is

oriented in the portrait orientation.

• When loading multiple sheets of transparency film into the bypass tray, fan the sheets several

times before loading.

• When printing on transparency film, remove each sheet as it is printed and output from the

machine. Allowing sheets to stack in the output tray may result in curling.

Once you have the correct type of transparency films, you will need to follow the transparency

manufacturer’s instructions, as well as making the below changes in your printer driver settings

when using the Sharp MSP bypass tray, for UoS-Mono and UoS-Colour print queues.

Select the “Paper” tab and then click the drop down menu choosing “Bypass Tray” under “Paper

Source.

Then select your target paper type from the drop down menu under “Paper Type”.

In our example below we have chosen the “Bypass Tray” and “Transparency” before clicking “ok” at

the bottom of the window.

Similarly this setting will need to be changed for when using other types of paper in the MSP, such as

labels, transparencies etc. Your PC/Mac will need to have chosen your selected paper type, with the

MSP having the matching paper type set as well on the device. If this is not done correctly, you will

see a “paper empty” message displayed on the device, simply because of a mismatch between your

print job and what the MSP is set to. To change this setting on the MSP, follow the below steps:-

Once you have swiped your card at the MSP and touched the “Copy” button, press “Paper Select”

located on the left hand side of the screen.

Then press “Type and Size” located on the right hand side of the screen under “Bypass Tray”

Select the paper type you wish to print on from the menu.

Then once you have selected the paper type, press ok, and again, until you are back at the copy

screen. You will now notice that your chosen paper type is displayed on the device icon at the

bottom of the screen, in our example below, we have selected “Labels” as our paper type.
