    The Miracle of ChristmasGalatians 4:4-5; I Timothy 1:17

    Introduction:The greatest miracle of Christmas: The Incarnation--the Word became flesh.

    Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh.

    I Timothy 3:16

    Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh isfrom God. I John 4:2

    I. The Time of the Incarnation - Galatians 4:4But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son.

    A. God prepared a world.B. God prepared a nation.C. God prepared a family.

    II. The Nature of the Incarnation - Galatians 4:4God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law.

    A. Made of a womanHe was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit,apart from a human father.

    In order that Christs body might be shown to be a real body,He was born of a woman; in order that His Godhead might bemade clear, He was born of a virgin.

    He became subject, like every other man, to the requirements of thelaw. He fulfilled those requirements. (Matthew 5:17)

    III. The Purpose of the Incarnation - Galatians 4:5A. To Redeem

    To redeem those under the law. v. 5Redeem = to buy back; to repurchase

    Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I Timothy 1:15

    The Word became flesh to become our Saviour.

    B. To Restore

    1. The Word became flesh so that those who believed on Him couldbe conformed to the image/likeness of his Son. Romans 8:29

    We were made in His image (Genesis 1:27) but we lost the imagein the fall.

    Through His incarnation we receive spiritual grace to produce thenature of God.

    His divine power has given us everything we need for life andgodliness. 2 Peter 1:3

    2. He wants us to be conformedthat He might be the firstbornamong many brothers.

    God wants to continue His work on earth through us.A Christian is a mind through which Christ thinks,A heart through which Christ loves,A voice through which Christ speaks,A hand through which Christ helps.
