What is VAMOSC?

• Web-enabled management information system that collects and reports Navy and USMC weapon system Operating and Support (O&S) costs on an annual basis– Direct O&S weapon system costs

– Some linked indirect weapon system costs

– Related non-cost data

– Most data available in Then Year and Constant Year dollars

• Data collected from over 125 financial and non-financial sources

• Data presented in alternative hierarchical formats

• Managed by NCCA with support of PricewaterhouseCoopers

Source Data Collection

• Many types of data collected from over 125 sources– Historical expenditures

– Operational Metrics

• Disparate feeders do not “talk” to each other– Data elements not standardized among feeder systems

– Data submitted manually by weapon system program offices to fill gaps in coverage provided by automated feeder systems

Who uses Navy VAMOSC data? Currently we have over 400 registered VAMOSC users. There are many more who call with one-time or special requests who use VAMOSC data, but do not access it on-line.

A primary user is our home organization, the Naval Center for Cost Analysis.

Other users include:

The System Commands,

The Naval Post Graduate School as well as other academia,

DoD, including OSD PA&E, our sister services, and DoD contractors use VAMOSC.
