Conjunction is a word that joins words, groups of words, or sentences.
Examples of conjunctions: and, or, but, nor, yet, and so
A Subordinating conjunction is a word that joins groups of words, or sentences that depend on each other for meaning.
Examples of subordinating conjunctions: as, before, until, when, whenever, although, after, because, if, though, since, whenever, or whether.
Combine the two sentences using a subordinate
conjunction.
1. It rains. We plan to hike in the mountains.
2.We will have to wait. The rain stops.
3.The rain has stopped. The air smells fresh and clean.
Combine the two sentences using a subordinate
conjunction.
4.The wood for the fire will not burn. The rain made it wet.
5.We can wait here. You seem concerned about the weather.
6.Hiking is fun exercise. It gets your heart rate up.

1.Where are Dorothy, Tin Man and Scarecrow at the beginning of chapter 6?
Answer: In a forest.
2. Who joins Dorothy on her journey? What does this character want?
Answer: A Lion, and he wants courage
3.As you read, you should notice the chapter titles. What do they tell you?
Answer: The chapter titles give you a clue about what will happen in the chapter.
4. Irony is when something is the opposite of what you expect. The Lion wants courage; the Tin Man wants a heart; the Scarecrow wants a brain. What is ironic about each of these characters’ wishes?
4. Answer: Each character
already displays they have what they seek: The Lion is already courageous; the Scarecrow already has a brain; and the Tin Man has a heart.
5. Write down an example where Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man show they have courage, brains and a heart.
Answer: The Lion jumps across the gorge; the Tin Man cries when people get hurt; the Scarecrow makes many plans as they travel
Make a comic strip for chapters 6-7 showing what happened with illustrations
