Words Their Way
• Students develop a general knowledge of English spelling. Students discover generalizations about spelling, not just spelling rules.
• Second, word study increases students’ specific knowledge of words. Specific knowledge relates to the spelling and meaning of individual words.
• Spelling groups are fluid, and will be formed to meet each students’ individual needs.
• Students will not have spelling homework this year. All spelling work will be done in class.

Field Trips:St. Mary’s City- October 11,2013This is an extended day trip where students will tour various parts of historic St. Mary’s City. They will explore a Yaocamaco Indian Hamlet, the Dove (boat), the town (print house, store, etc.), and a plantation.
Chesapeake Bay- May 9, 2013 This will be an extended day trip, where students will participate in many activities, such as seining and a nature hike. We will go rain or shine!
Instrumental Music Mr. Albert HuntFourth Grade is the first year that students can participate in the Instrumental Music program. Dr. Hunt sent home interest fliers on Friday. Dr. Hunt will be here on Monday mornings and all day Thursday. Lessons are a half-hour long, during the instructional day. Students are expected to make up missed class work, but will be given support in order to do so. Questions? Please email Dr. Hunt at [email protected]

Up: Conferences will be held on 11/11/13 and 11/12/13. Both of these days are ½ days for students.
