Words Their Way

• Students develop a general knowledge of English spelling. Students discover generalizations about spelling, not just spelling rules.

• Second, word study increases students’ specific knowledge of words. Specific knowledge relates to the spelling and meaning of individual words.

• Spelling groups are fluid, and will be formed to meet each students’ individual needs.

• Students will not have spelling homework this year. All spelling work will be done in class.
