Dear Parents of Mind Stretcher Students, Thank you for using our app! This handbook was written to give you a better understanding of MS e-Study Buddy® (or ESB). We hope it will explain & help solve issues that you or your child may face when using it. If you have already started using MS e-Study Buddy® for your child’s learning, you may skip the next section to get to information you need. If you are new to app, please read on to learn more.

WHAT IS MS e-Study Buddy®?
● MS e-Study Buddy® is Mind Stretcher’s complimentary e-learning app . It is available for use by:
○ students who have enrolled into select programmes of ours (see below). ○ users who have purchased ebooks that Mind Stretcher released for sale
● MS e-Study Buddy® app is FREE to download.
● Install & Use App on only ONE of these: Windows PC, MacOS PC, iOS Device, Android Device
● Worksheets (called Books) are released to MS e-Study Buddy® weekly, along with bonus
interactive material. Students enrolled to applicable programmes will receive worksheets for free during their period of enrolment

MY CHILD IS ELIGIBLE FOR MS e-Study Buddy®. WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
STEP 1 Find email of my child’s credentials from [email protected]
A user account is created upon a student’s first enrolment to an MS e-Study Buddy® supported programme. An email containing your child’s username and password is sent to the primary contact email linked to your child’s student profile.
You can request for credentials from Technical support if you have yet to receive or have lost it. See section: Popular Problems - no.1, pg 9
STEP 2 Choose a suitable dedicated device for my child’s MS e-Study Buddy® use
MS e-Study Buddy® is available for Windows, MacOS, iOS & Android devices. Older devices (pre-2014) or non-conventional models on these platforms may not perform optimally or display properly.
Select ONE device that your child can use till the end of his/her enrolment. For general guidelines to whether your chosen device can run the app properly, please check the Recommended specifications for use section in MS e-Study Buddy® Download & Installation Guide
STEP 3 Download MS e-Study Buddy® to the device
MS e-Study Buddy® for Windows or MacOS can be downloaded from
https://www.mindstretcher.com/e-studybuddy/ For mobile device users, search for ‘MS e-Study Buddy®’ in the respective Apple or Google stores to download.

STEP 4 Install MS e-Study Buddy® on the device
Locate & run the installer file in your designated downloads folder. For personal computers, be sure you are using an account with administrative rights. For mobile devices, installation is automatically performed after the download. If you need details on performing steps 1-3, check out our MS e-Study Buddy® Download & Installation Guide.
STEP 5 Launch MS e-Study Buddy® and authorise my device
Open | Launch the app on the dedicated device. At the authorisation screen, enter your child’s username & password to proceed Check out MS e-Study Buddy® Quick Start Guide for details on how to authorise your device to your child’s account

9 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT USING MS e-Study Buddy®
1 MS e-Study Buddy® IS NOT AN ONLINE WEBSITE FOR LEARNING.
A popular misconception amongst parents. MS e-Study Buddy® IS AN APP. After installing & launching it, use the username & password at the authorisation screen to get access. Worksheets can then be downloaded to your device & used within the app.
2 EACH ACCOUNT HAS A ONE-DEVICE LIMIT IN PLACE
MS e-Study Buddy® is not intended for use on more than one device at a time. Once you have chosen, installed and authorised your child’s account to a device (PC, phone or tablet), usage will be locked to that one device.
But what if I need to switch to another device? Leave a ticket request with ESB Technical support or inform your Mind Stretcher Centre. Important: Please let us know if you are switching to a new device or one that you have previously used MS e-Study Buddy® one. Device switching is performed for infrequent events such as loss, damage and replacement of current device. Switching is done on request and takes time to process.
3 DIGITAL WORKSHEETS ARE RELEASED 2 WEEKS AFTER USE IN CLASS Currently, worksheets are not released to students on the same week that they are used for teaching in class. These are released to your app’s book library every Monday, 2 weeks later. Depending on the date when first joining a class, students may wait anywhere between 8 to 14 days for their 1st worksheet Example: A Primary 3 Science student in the high achiever’s programme will expect to see Wk12 P3 Science (HA) on Monday, week 14.
How would my child be able to prepare for examinations then? Primary 6 students will have the 2 week release delay removed early September to facilitate for PSLE preparation. Primary 1-5 students will have their release delay removed end September or early October.

4 YOUR CHILD’S 1ST WEEK OF ATTENDANCE FOR A PROGRAMME DETERMINES THE FIRST WORKSHEET TO BE RECEIVED
The first worksheet that your child will receive is one used in his first week of class. He/She will not receive worksheets used for the week(s) before he/she had joined the class. Example: A student who attends a class on week 5, will not receive books from week 4 or earlier.
5 YOUR CHILD’S PRIMARY CONTACT EMAIL IS VERY IMPORTANT
The primary contact email is the email address that you or your spouse has provided Mind Stretcher when registering or enrolling your child.
This email needs to be correct for purpose of:
- Maintaining correspondence with Mind Stretcher or MS e-Study Buddy® Support - Receiving credentials or notifications - Changing the MS e-Study Buddy® password - Receiving Quiz Reports
If possible, avoid using:
- Company emails - may be blocked - Your child’s email - may be missed - Email accounts with small space quotas - may bounce when mailbox is full
How do I check or change my child’s primary contact email?
This email is best verified or updated by contacting your Mind Stretcher Centre. Changes made through the centre will also propagate to your child’s ESB account . Centre info can be found here: https://www.mindstretcher.com/reach-us/
You can test your primary contact email by yourself
For an easy way to test if your primary contact email is reachable, see section “One way to test if your child’s registered primary contact email is reachable” in Popular Problems no.1 pg. 9
What happens whenever I change the primary contact email? For reasons of security, each time you change the primary contact email, your current password is replaced & a new one is sent to the updated address. Remember to find this new credentials email after the update. Notify Technical Support if you cannot find it.

6 YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR MS e-Study Buddy® PASSWORD ON YOUR OWN.
Once you have confirmed that you are able to receive emails from: [email protected], and know what your child’s username is, you can change your password anytime you wish, or if you forgot what it was set to.
7 WORKSHEETS WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR CHILD’S ACCOUNT
Removal of worksheets will occur:
1 At the end of the day of your child’s withdrawal from a programme
2 Near the end of a programme, at MindStretcher’s discretion
3 Worksheets/books may also be removed upon date of expiry. This date can be found when you bring up a book’s book detail
If you find worksheets for a subject to be missing or removed, while your child is still enrolled to the programme, such occurrence is likely unintended. Please contact Technical Support with information on the affected subjects.
8 STUDENTS DO NOT KEEP PREVIOUS YEARS’ WORKSHEETS WHEN CONTINUING THEIR ENROLLMENT TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF STUDY
Students who re-enroll and return to a programme in the following year do not get to keep worksheets from previous enrollments.
9 ABOUT QUIZZES
Quizzes are weekly activities containing 5-10 questions and usually found at the end of worksheets (Click|Tap on Table of Contents to locate the Quiz page). A Quiz report is sent to you every 4 weeks for your monitoring. Missed quizzes can be reattempted but won’t be reflected in the report.
Note: Due to nature of subject, quizzes are not offered for all levels of Creative Writer’s Toolbox

COMMON QUESTIONS FROM PARENTS & OUR ANSWERS

What is my child’s username? Can we use the real name instead?
Mind Stretcher has assigned a unique Student ID to your child that helps us retrieve student particulars and enrollment information. If you do not remember what your child’s student ID is, please ask your Mind Stretcher Centre. THE USERNAME THAT MS e-Study Buddy® ASKS DURING AUTHORISATION IS THE SAME STUDENT ID, IN 7-DIGIT FORMAT. THIS USERNAME IS FIXED & CANNOT BE CHANGED. THIS IS DONE TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF IDENTICAL NAME CONFLICTS.
Your child’s actual name is represented in MS e-Study Buddy® as Display name. This name can be seen in emails that we send you. We use it to search for student accounts if other information are not provided. If you spot errors in the display name, please contact support to request a fix.

I have more than one child studying at Mind Stretcher. Can they all use MS e-Study Buddy® on the same device? Yes. they can share a device for MS e-Study Buddy®. But because they cannot use it at the same time, we would recommend setting aside a different device for each child to avoid potential timing conflicts.

Can I install MS e-Study Buddy® on several devices and have my child switch from one to the other?
No. Your child’s account cannot be freely and easily transferred between devices.

Do I need to ‘sign out’ after using? Once you have authorised your account, you need not ‘sign-in’ or ‘sign-out’ to start and end your child’s session. There are no benefits to doing so. Treat it like a form of licence activation. You will only need to ‘sign out’ if you plan to: deauthorise the device, or are sharing the device with another MS e-Study Buddy® user.

How many MS e-Study Buddy® accounts will my child have? Regardless of how many Mind Stretcher class your child is enrolled in, you will only need one account to access all the books . If you have more than one child registered with us, they will each have their own account. That is only one account for each student /child.

Can I read the worksheets without using MS e-Study Buddy®? Or print them? No, use of the worksheets is not possible without the app. The worksheets cannot be saved to a format outside of the app.
PRINT-TO-PAPER FUNCTIONALITY IS NOT SUPPORTED IN MS e-Study Buddy®

How do I know which version of MS e-Study Buddy® I have?
From time to time, changes are made to MS e-Study Buddy®, requiring you to update to or install a new version of MS e-Study Buddy®.
YOU CAN CHECK YOUR APP VERSION
Via account screen in the app -OR- info tab on the reading room banner
Windows, MacOS : Check your installer file date
Mobile: App store or Google Play can tell you if your app is up-to-date

Will I be able to get back my child’s answers and working after i have uninstalled the app or have changed to a new device? Most likely, you will. The app has a synchronisation feature that will save these information to the server. You will need to be able to connect online when that happens.
You may remove them for good if you decline to synchronise and continue to use the unsynchronised information over time.

POPULAR PROBLEMS (WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEM)
1 I did not receive any username or password for my child. Credentials containing username and password are sent to your child’s primary contact email.
Possible Reason Suggested Action
1 You were expecting to receive mail at an address that is not your primary contact email
Check with your spouse. Contact your centre to verify what your primary contact email is.
2 The mail may have been mistakenly filtered to spam or accidentally deleted
Check your spam folder. Mark as Not Spam to move back to inbox
3 Your Mail Service Provider may have blocked this email

4 Your primary contact email is unreachable/invalid. Entry for your primary contact email may contain typographical mistakes.
Contact your centre to verify your primary contact email.
Can you send my child’s username & password to another email instead?
Sorry. Credentials can only be delivered to the primary contact email. It’s the only way to be sure.
How to search for our email Use your email service’s search bar to find mail from: [email protected] . You can locate our mail this way even if it ended up in the spam folder. For Gmail users, the email often shows up in category: promotions so checking there can help if you receive lots of emails daily.
One way to test if your child’s registered primary contact email is reachable Perform step 1 of Change your Password see section Popular Problems -no 6 pg 11. An automated response will be sent to your primary contact email. Since this is for testing, you do not need to continue once you have received our mail. You may have to wait a while for our email to reach you. If you receive it, we can reach you. If no followup was received, despite repeated testing over a period of time, there may be issues with the primary contact email. Please contact your centre to check for possible error in your entry. You may need to add [email protected] to your safe senders list. Consider using a different email for contact, if all else fails.
If all else fails, contact Support to manually assign a password of your choice.

POPULAR PROBLEMS (WHAT TO DO )
2 I have problems installing the app on PCs
FOR PCS, YOU NEED THESE FOR YOUR DEVICE:
ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT is necessary for the installation and use.
SYSTEM PASSWORD may be required to give permission to install.
SUFFICIENT FILESPACE for downloaded worksheets.

3 I cannot get past login
CHECK THAT ...
Credentials were keyed in correctly
You are using the latest credentials sent out to you.
Whenever you update the primary contact email with Mind Stretcher, new credentials would be automatically sent to you, replacing your latest password. This is done for security reasons. If you experience issues
App seems to hang after sign-in or is taking too long to respond
PCs: Uninstall the app and make sure to remove local data Mobile: Restore factory default or delete app, then reinstall.
I get this error message ...
Ver 2.0.0 & later You have exceeded maximum number of devices for use with your account
Contact Technical Support to request for device unlock. For why this happens, see section 9 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT USING E-STUDY BUDDY no.2. Do not request for a password change. It is not necessary for fixing this.

4 I keep forgetting the password. It’s too difficult to remember.
Do you know you can change your password to your preference? In fact, you can do this at any time, & as often as you like. You can even do so if you forget what it was. If you have established a reachable primary contact email and know your child’s student id, you can change your password. Your child’s student ID is an all numeric sequence between 4-7 digits. If you have a 5-digit number, add zeroes before it to make up 7-digits. Eg ID of 12345 becomes 0012345.

5 I do not see any books at all
You can find books to download at the Book Library by selecting (sometimes with label: Go to Library). If you do not see any books there, it could be that:
1 Your child has enrolled into a programme for less than 2 weeks, there is good chance you will not see books in their account after you have authorised e-Study Buddy
2 You have withdrawn from your enrolled programmes
3 Books are set to expire at a given date. Expired books are removed from your library
4 You may have ‘signed in’ with a trial or demo account offered during roadshows and promos
5 You are currently offline
If none of the above are applicable to your case, please contact support with your child’s enrolment details so that we may investigate and restore missing books.

6 ‘CHANGE THE PASSWORD’ on your webpage does not work. I still get bad username or password message when trying to ‘sign-in’. Other times, I get a blank page when i click on the email link.
Username must be entered correctly. The weblink in the email expires one day after sending, so if you take too long to follow up, you may end up with an invalid web page.
Here’s how to change password successfully
STEP 1
Go to MS e-Study Buddy® webpage - https://www.mindstretcher.com/e-studybuddy/ The Change Password feature is found between the installer download links & MS e-Study
Buddy® technical support sections. Click|Tap on blue text link “here” next to the CHANGE THE PASSWORD. This brings you to the reset password screen
STEP 2
Key in a valid username, which is a 7-digit student ID unique to your child. If you do not know what it is, you can ask your centre.
DO NOT ENTER YOUR CHILD’S NAME AS USERNAME
Press reset once done. You should get a confirmation message.
STEP 3 Check your primary contact email. Look for an incoming email with link & instructions. Click on link to open up a webpage on your default browser..
STEP 4
Set a new password for e-Study Buddy. Key in password again to confirm. Click|Tap submit. You will get confirmation of success but no mail will be sent to you, so please remember the changed password, or repeat the process again should you forget.

7 Quiz Report seem to show that my child has not attempted the quizzes. What gives?
Currently, for the results to be reflected on the report, the student would need to always press ‘check answer’ button after selecting the choice. It is also important that the student is on a stable internet connection while attempting the quiz.
EMERGENCIES
Help! I’ve lost my mobile device/laptop and I need to disable the e-Study Buddy account, and get e-Study Buddy running on a new device. Do not worry. We can help restore your account to your replacement device. We will also block or invalidate unauthorised access to the app on your lost device. Leave a ticket with Technical support here

ACTION 3 MOVE YOUR FILES FROM FOLDER TO THE DESKTOP (PCS)

Cut & Paste (mouse)
Right click on the file with the mouse and select Cut. Then right click at the destination and select Paste.
Hold control key on your keyboard & click on the file with the mouse. Select look for copy from menu. Then click on empty space on desktop. Hold control & click mouse to bring up menu, then select Paste Item.

Use keyboard shortcuts, To Cut hold down Ctrl+X keys and to Paste hold down Ctrl+V keys
Click on the file to be copied and hold down Command+Cut (keyboard shortcut: ⌘+X). Then click on empty space on desktop. Use keyboard shortcut ⌘ + V keys on the keyboard to paste the file to the desired location.

Select the Windows key to open the Start menu. Right click on the app you want to create shortcut. Select Open File Location>Create Shortcut. Click Yes.
Locate app in Applications folder using . Select the app, right click, select Make Alias and drag the alias to the desktop.

1. Search for ‘Snipping Tool’ and launch it. 2. After clicking new, Drag-select region that you
wish to capture. Release to capture area in region.

1. Press Print Screen key on your keyboard. 2. Load a bitmap program 3. Microsoft Paint
Enter Start Menu, expand All apps, open Windows Accessories & choose Paint.
