Mrs. M. Wilson

The mission of the CTMS Counseling Department is

to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the personal/social, academic and career development of all students; in partnership with other educators, parents, guardians and the community. The CTMS counselors will provide resources and assistance that will facilitate school-wide support to ensure all students at CTMS have access to, and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.

Mission Statement

The Counseling Department, Staff and Students joined together to

celebrate a week of peace. Peace Day is devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and people.

On October 2, 2013, Twenty-two 6th-8th grade girls participated in the Girl’s Inc. 2013 Girls STEM Summit. The girl’s were chaperoned by School Counselor, Mrs. Wilson and School Social Worker, Ms. Watts.

together and took a stand against Drugs & Bullying. The week long festivities included:

On October 29th, our 6th grade students at Champion participated in

“National Mix-It Up Day” during their lunch period. The students engaged in dialogue with their peers outside of their “usual” friendship circle. The students had the opportunity to meet new

friends, move across invisible lines, and promote school unity.

Citizenship Award Recipients

On October 31st School Counselor, Mrs. Johnson chaperoned 10 7th and 8th Grade

Student Ambassadors to GA Tech to participate in the annual Pop Summit. The seminar assembled over 850 students educating them on diversity awareness and

respecting and embracing differences.

On November 6th, The Champion students had the pleasure to view a

special production by the Alliance Theater in our school's gymnasium. The play was centered around the Woo's of middle school. The play was entertaining, humorous and very educational.

On November 21st The Counseling Department held our annual

Honey and Tea Session with our Champion parents. Our Special guest speaker was Ms. Holly Levinson from the Anti-Defamation League. The session was titled; “What we wish our parents knew about bullying”.

On December 21st the Counseling Department celebrated our first mentoring

activity of the school-year. Mentors and Mentees got to know one another and they each participated in a great deed and gave back to those in need. Over 50 boxes of toiletries were donated to a local charity by our teachers and students.
