Release Notes for the Siebel 8.1.1.8 Fix PackThe following section describes known issues with the Siebel 8.1.1.8 Fix Pack, as well as any applicable workaround information.
CAUTION: All customers who use Siebel Calendar or who require context-sensitive help on Siebel Tools (F1 Help) are required to apply Siebel 8.1.1.8 QF0000001. This Quick Fix includes critical fixes for Siebel Tools Help and Siebel Calendar functionality.
NOTE: For a comprehensive list of all Siebel 8.1 Release Notes, see Siebel Release Notes on My Oracle Support (Article ID 557191.1).
F1 Context-Sensitive Help Not Working in Siebel ToolsBug 14002935: Context-sensitive help is not available.

Workaround: Apply Siebel 8.1.1.8 QF0000001 to resolve this issue (Bug 14250836).
Calendar Functionality Behaves InconsistentlyBug 11789599: Within Calendar, customers cannot translate day and month strings for languages that are not shipped.
Bug 10589738: The call-start time information is incorrect for accounts and contacts that are dragged and dropped.
Bug 10537528: An error message appears when users click the Repeat Until Date field.
Bug 10520097: After an appointment is dragged and dropped, the appointment duration is incorrect.
Workaround: Apply Siebel 8.1.1.8 QF0000001 to resolve this issue.
Search Functionality Does Not WorkBug 13386485: After the Siebel 8.1.1.8 Fix Pack has been installed, when users launch the Siebel 8.1.1 SRF (such as siebel_sia.srf) and click on the Binoculars icon, they receive the following error message: “An error has occurred preparing a Sql statement. Please continue or ask your systems administrator to check your application configuration if the problem persists.(SBL-DBC-00108).” Users receive the same error message if they navigate from Site Map > Administration - Search and click the Binoculars icon.
Workaround: Use the following workaround to resolve this issue:
1 Navigate to Administration - Search > Search Engine Settings, and add the following parameter: ACR505 Activation = FALSE.
2 Log out of the application and log back in.
3 Copy the .swt files associated with displaying search results from a backup file. (These files are located in the siebsrvr\WEBTEMPL directory.)
4 Restart the Siebel Server.
Enhancements Requiring Changes to Files with Certain File ExtensionsIn the past, Siebel Fix Pack Installer did not overwrite any files with the following file extensions: cfg, srf, css, gif, swt, htm, xsl, sws, swf, sw, ctl, sql, ucf, rox, rod, prd. This was because customers may have customized the files with these extensions based on their business requirements. However, this made it difficult to deliver patches for these files, because changes to these files had to be manually applied.
Starting from the Siebel 8.1.1.8 release, the Siebel Fix Pack Installer will deliver fixes or enhancements to the files with the extensions detailed previously to make it easier to apply fixes and to implement enhancements.

In order to prevent any customizations that users have performed from being overwritten by the new Siebel Fix Pack Installer, a script has been developed to identify conflicts that may need to be resolved. To obtain this script, from within My Oracle Support, search for Article ID 1466569.1, “Post Installation Validation Script for Siebel 8.1.1.8 Fix Pack Version Release.” In future releases, this script will be enhanced with additional features to help identify only the true conflicts.
Actuate Reports Does Not Work Bug 13908101: After users install and configure Actuate, when they synchronize the SADMIN user, they receive an error message.
Workaround: Contact Oracle Global Customer Support to request a Quick Fix for this issue.
Errors Registering New Partners Within Partner Relationship Management PortalBug 13934882: When users try to register a new partner without logging into Partner Relationship Management Portal, instead of being directed to a login page, they receive an error message.
Workaround: Contact Oracle Global Customer Support for information about how to obtain a Quick Fix for this issue.
Unable to Generate Non-ENU Language ReportsBug 14062631: Users cannot generate reports for languages other than English (ENU) after they have applied Bug 13910528.
Workaround: Request a patch from BI Publisher Fusion Middleware.
Reports Do Not Display Properly When Output Type Is MHTMLBug 14021281/Bug 13840161:
■ When users select MHTML as the output type and then generate a report, the report opens within the same window.
■ When users select MHTML as the output type and generate a report, the parameter popup window disappears, and the results of the report do not display on the screen, but when users navigate to the BI Publisher Reports screen, the report is visible, and users are able to open it.

Installation Scenarios Described in This GuideThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Overview” on page 16.
The installation instructions in this guide apply in the following scenarios:
■ Performing a new full installation of version 8.1.1, with Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8. If you are installing version 8.1.1 with version 8.1.1.8 (a new full installation), then follow the installation instructions in the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using.
For a new installation, the applicable version of the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using is version 8.1, Rev. B. This book is available on the version 8.1 Siebel Bookshelf (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14004_01/homepage.htm).
When you run the Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 installer for Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension, if no existing valid installation is detected, the Fix Pack installer installs a new installation of Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8, incorporating version 8.1.1. This capability depends on your having correctly set up the network image for Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension version 8.1.1.8 to include the correct version 8.1.1 media. These installers use the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) framework.
Other Siebel modules are installed in the normal way. Use the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using to install version 8.1.1. Then follow the instructions in this Siebel Maintenance Release Guide for installing the current Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release on top of version 8.1.1.
For more information about installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x, see “About Installing Siebel Fix Packs” on page 20.
■ Installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 (patching an existing version 8.1.1 or a prior version 8.1.1.x installation). If you have already installed version 8.1.1 as a new installation, and are now installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 on top of version 8.1.1 or a previous version 8.1.1.x release (through version 8.1.1.7), then follow the instructions in this Siebel Maintenance Release Guide for doing this.
Where applicable, you can optionally uninstall an existing installed Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release before you install the latest Fix Pack. For more information, see “Uninstalling Siebel Fix Packs” on page 32.
When you installed version 8.1.1 as a new installation, you would have already referred to the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using. The applicable version of the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using for such an installation is version 8.1, Rev. A, which can be found on My Oracle Support at Article ID 1461732.1.
After you install version 8.1.1.8, the applicable version of the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using is version 8.1, Rev. B. Refer to this version of the guide, for example, for information about running the updated Configuration Wizards that were provided by version 8.1.1.8. This book is available on the version 8.1 Siebel Bookshelf (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14004_01/homepage.htm).
For more information about installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x, see “About Installing Siebel Fix Packs” on page 20.

■ Adding languages. When you perform a new installation of Siebel Business Applications version 8.1.1, include any supported languages (language packs) you require or expect to require. In order to add languages to an existing installation, you must do so before you install version 8.1.1.8; additional postinstallation steps are also required. For more information, see “About Installing Languages” on page 21.
Applicable Base ReleasesThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Overview” on page 16.
In general, each Siebel Fix Pack can be installed on top of an existing Siebel installation that is at a valid base version level for this Fix Pack.
Installing any Fix Pack requires an existing installation of a qualified base release to install into. Here, base release means the current version of the existing installation, including version 8.1.1 software and optionally including any installed Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x or other patch releases. Valid base releases are Siebel Industry Applications, version 8.1.1 or version 8.1.1.x.
NOTE: In order to run Siebel Business Applications software, all components of a Siebel Enterprise must be at the same exact version 8.1.1.x release level.
About Running Siebel Image CreatorThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Overview” on page 16.
You use the Siebel Image Creator utility to create an installation image (sometimes called a network image) for any Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release. The installation image can include any Siebel installable product and language provided as part of this product release.
You can also add products or languages to an existing installation image of the same version, for products or languages that were not previously included in the network image.
Installing any Siebel Business Applications release, including a new installation of version 8.1.1.8 with version 8.1.1 or a patch installation of version 8.1.1.8, must be done from an installation image created using Image Creator.
For new installations to be installed with Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8, you also obtain new version 8.1.1 media for Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension. Siebel Image Creator has changed for use with these new version 8.1.1.8 installers, which use Oracle Universal Installer. Create a full image for Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension. For patch installations, you can also create a patch-only image for these modules. You can perform patch installations for these modules by running the version 8.1.1.8 installers from either a full image or a patch-only image.
For information about using the version of Siebel Image Creator provided with version 8.1.1.8, see the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using. Use version 8.1, Rev. B, which can be found on Siebel Bookshelf.
NOTE: Always use the version of Siebel Image Creator provided with the Siebel release for which you are creating the installation image.

About Installing Siebel Fix PacksThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Overview” on page 16.
For each Siebel Business Applications product module, installing the latest Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release on top of an existing base installation replaces existing executable files and provides new files in addition to the base installation. For supported base releases, see “Applicable Base Releases” on page 19.
Installing a Fix Pack might replace customer-modified files (for example, application configuration files like siebel.cfg) that govern program execution. However, note that the existing files are backed up to the fp_backup directory before the Fix Pack is installed. (Uninstalling the Fix Pack, as described in “Uninstalling Siebel Fix Packs” on page 32, rolls back the updates and restores the files from this directory.) After installing a Fix Pack, you can run a script that will compare the newly patched files with the files saved in fp_backup, and report the differences. After reviewing the script results, you can resolve any file conflicts that may have occurred. For more information about obtaining and running this script, see 1466569.1 (Article ID) on My Oracle Support.
When you install a Fix Pack, any installed languages might also be patched, depending on the content of the Fix Pack.
When you run the Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 installer for Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension, if no existing valid installation is detected, the installer installs a new installation of version 8.1.1.8, incorporating version 8.1.1.
NOTE: References in this guide to Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x releases apply to the current Fix Pack release. However, you must verify the availability, characteristics, and requirements of any Fix Pack releases, including Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x releases. Installation tasks and requirements for all future releases are subject to change, and will be covered by updated documentation. For example, Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 introduces new requirements and supports new installation scenarios.
If you plan to install any additional Siebel language packs, then review “About Installing Languages” on page 21 before you install any Fix Pack.
The Siebel Fix Pack must be installed from an installation image you create using the Siebel Image Creator utility. This utility is described in version 8.1 of the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using. For more information, see “About Running Siebel Image Creator” on page 19.
For more information about stopping and restarting Siebel components, which is a required part of the Fix Pack installation process, see Siebel System Administration Guide. This guide is available on the latest version 8.1 Siebel Bookshelf. See also “Postinstallation Tasks for the Web Server” on page 30.
After you install version 8.1.1 and version 8.1.1.x, you can also install any applicable Quick Fix release on top of version 8.1.1.x. For more information, see “About Installing Siebel Quick Fix Releases” on page 22.

About Installing LanguagesThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Overview” on page 16.
Include or add all languages you will require in your Siebel version 8.1.1 installation image (network image), which you create using the Siebel Image Creator utility. Then install the software with the languages you require.
NOTE: If you are installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.8 for Siebel Enterprise Server or Siebel Web Server Extension, then restrictions apply to adding languages. You must add the new languages using the version 8.1.1 installer and reinstall the existing version 8.1.1.x Siebel Fix Pack (through version 8.1.1.7) before you install version 8.1.1.8. You cannot add languages to an existing installation of version 8.1.1.8.
When you configure each installed Siebel Server and Siebel Web Server Extension, you also specify which installed languages you are deploying.
With the restrictions noted for version 8.1.1.8, you can add languages to an existing installation. Some postinstallation tasks are required in order to deploy a language you added after initial product installation and configuration:
■ If you add a language after you have configured an installed Siebel Server, then start the Siebel Server Configuration Wizard and run the configuration task Add Language Support for the Siebel Server. (It is not necessary to reconfigure the Siebel Server.)
■ If you add a language after you have configured an installed Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE), then start the SWSE Configuration Wizard and run the configuration task Add Language Support for the SWSE Configuration. (It is not necessary to reconfigure the SWSE.)
After adding a language to your installed software, you must add the language to the Siebel Database, import Siebel Repository data into the database for this language, and run the MLOV (multilingual LOV) conversion utility. It is recommended to perform database-related tasks after installing applicable Fix Packs or other patch releases.
If you are not adding languages, then you only need to install the latest Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release, as described in this guide.
For detailed information about installing and deploying Siebel languages, see:

Postinstallation Tasks for the Siebel ServerThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Instructions” on page 16.
If you are using a security adapter, then you might need to update the value of the CRC parameter after installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x. The value must reflect the checksum value applicable to the security adapter library file, such as a DLL file on Windows.
This task might be necessary if you previously determined to use checksum validation for your security adapter deployment, and set the value of the CRC parameter. If a Fix Pack you installed later included an updated security adapter library file, then the checksum validation will fail and Siebel Web Clients might not start, unless the value of the CRC parameter is updated.
For detailed information about this task, see the topic about configuring checksum validation in Siebel Security Guide.

Postinstallation Tasks for the Web ServerThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Instructions” on page 16.
You must restart the Web server after you have finished installing Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x on all server-based components: Siebel Server, Siebel Gateway Name Server, Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE), and so on.
The restart is required because the Web server must be able to create a folder to contain static files required for the current version of the Siebel application (corresponding to the latest Fix Pack release). This folder is created as SWSE_ROOT/public/lang_code/build_number, where:
■ SWSE_ROOT is the location where the SWSE is installed
■ lang_code is each installed language (such as ENU for U.S. English)
■ build_number is the current build number of the installed Siebel software (the build number comes from the content of the base.txt file on the SWSE installation)
This folder and other folders are created on the first SWSE request after you install any Siebel Business Applications release. This folder is populated with static files copied from the Siebel Server directory SIEBSRVR_ROOT/webmaster/siebel_build. The contents of these folders are refreshed each time the Web server restarts, or when an administrator enters a Web update command in the browser. After a build-specific folder is created on the SWSE, folders representing earlier builds are no longer used.
For more information, see the Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using and Siebel Security Guide, both on Siebel Bookshelf.
Failure to restart the Web server after installing the Fix Pack for Siebel Enterprise Server components and for the SWSE means the folders will not be created on the Web server, which causes the Siebel login screens to stop responding.
Postinstallation Tasks for High Interactivity ClientsThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Instructions” on page 16.
After you install a new version of a Siebel application, including a Siebel Fix Pack, new versions of applicable ActiveX controls for the high interactivity client will be downloaded onto your users’ client computers when they run the Siebel application within the Internet Explorer browser. Alternatively, updated versions of the ActiveX controls you require can be predeployed to the client computers.
This behavior applies to Siebel Web Client (using high interactivity only), Mobile Web Client, and Developer Web Client.
For more information, see the browser configuration chapter in Siebel System Administration Guide.
After a new Siebel software version is installed, Java controls for the high interactivity client are also downloaded. If caching is enabled, then cached versions of these controls might need to be cleared on the client computer. To clear this data, choose Start, then Settings, then Control Panel, and then Java Plug-In. Click the Cache tab, and then click Reset.

After a new Siebel software version is installed, it is also recommended that users clear their browser cache. To do this in Internet Explorer, choose Tools, then Internet Options, and then choose Delete Files from the General tab.
For the minimum supported version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), see Siebel System Requirements and Supported Platforms on Oracle Technology Network. The JRE can be downloaded automatically to client computers, as described in Siebel System Administration Guide.
Postinstallation Tasks for Supporting Additional LanguagesThis topic is part of “Siebel Fix Pack Installation Instructions” on page 16.
If you are installing an additional language into an existing version 8.1.1.x installation, then review the information in this topic, in case it applies to you. For more information about adding languages, see “About Installing Languages” on page 21.
Importing Locale-Specific Data into the RepositorySometimes it is necessary to update the text strings held in the repository for a particular language or for multiple languages. These text strings are held in the Symbolic String Model (SSM) table, and appear on-screen as labels for tabs, fields, and so on, across all Siebel Business Applications.
Updates might be needed either because a string has been incorrectly translated for a particular language or because installing a patch release has caused a new string or message to appear for all languages for which Oracle ships language packs for Siebel Business Applications.
NOTE: These instructions are provided for use with any releases to which they apply; they might not apply for any particular version 8.1.1.x release or language.
The following procedure uses the Locale Management Utility (LMU), which is part of Siebel Tools, to import an LMU file. An LMU file might contain strings in just one language or in multiple languages. When running the Locale Management Utility, you can choose to import only the strings for the languages you are actually using in your installation.
In the procedure, when you are prompted for the file to import, specify the name of the LMU file provided for the applicable language.
NOTE: Install any applicable Siebel Fix Pack before you run the Locale Management Utility.
For more information about using the Locale Management Utility, see Using Siebel Tools and Siebel Global Deployment Guide.

To import strings and other locale-specific attributes into the repository
1 In Siebel Tools, choose Tools, then Utilities, and then Locale Management.
The Locale Management Utility appears.
2 Select a source language and a target language.
The source language is the language of the locale-specific data in the LMU file you are importing. The target language is the Siebel language into which the strings will be imported.
3 Click the Import tab.
4 Enter the name of the LMU file from which you want to import locale-specific attributes.
You can also use the Browse button to find and select the file.
5 Specify whether you want to mark records in the repository with the Redo flag that have changed since the export occurred.
When the import occurs, the LMU compares the source language records in the repository with the source language records in the import file. If the records in the repository have changed since the export occurred, then they are marked with the Redo flag. This flag helps you identify records that might need to be retranslated.
6 Click Import.
7 After finishing, recompile the SRF file and restart the Application Object Manager component on the Siebel Server to see the results.

Scenarios for Uninstalling the Siebel Fix PackThis topic is part of “Uninstalling Siebel Fix Packs” on page 32.
In some circumstances, you might need to, or might choose to, uninstall the current Siebel Fix Pack version 8.1.1.x release and revert to the previous version of the installed Siebel software: version 8.1.1 or a prior version 8.1.1.x release. For example:
■ You might decide to uninstall an existing installed Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release before installing the current Fix Pack. For Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension, this option does not apply if you installed version 8.1.1.8 as a new full installation.
■ If issues are encountered in your deployment, then you might decide to uninstall an existing installed Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release and revert to version 8.1.1 or a prior version 8.1.1.x release. Subsequently, you might decide to install a lower-level Fix Pack. For Siebel Enterprise Server and Siebel Web Server Extension, this option does not apply if you installed version 8.1.1.8 as a new full installation.
NOTE: For uninstallation of a previous Siebel Fix Pack version 8.1.1.x (such as version 8.1.1.7), see the Siebel Maintenance Release Guide applicable to the version you are uninstalling.
CAUTION: If you revert to the version 8.1.1 base installation or to a prior version 8.1.1.x, then change request fixes and new functionality that were added in any Siebel Fix Pack 8.1.1.x release that was uninstalled are no longer available. You also need to take steps described later in this topic, under guidelines and limitations.

Instructions for Bug 11934240Bug 1934240 provides the flexibility to change the search specification that is appended to the current search specification while querying for the Asset, Quote Item, and Order Entry Line Item.
Use the following procedures to implement this fix.
To edit the VORD Projected Asset Cache business service
1 Log into Siebel Tools, select the VORD Projected Asset Cache business service and lock it.
2 Create three new records in the Business Service user property as shown in the following table:
Siebel Maintenance Release Guide Version 8.1.1.8, Rev. A 85
Siebel Maintenance Release Guide, Version 8.1.1.8, Rev. A ■ Resolved Bugs in the Siebel 8.1.1.8 Fix Pack
NOTE: The values mentioned above are examples. The search specification typically contains static data (for example, Status <> 'Cancelled'.). The syntax should be as shown in the preceding table, without enclosing the entire search specification in double or single quotes.
3 Compile the business service object after making your changes.
Workflow Changes for Bug 11934240Many workflows that require PAC invoke the following business service or business service method:
■ Business Service: VORD Projected Asset Cache
Name Value Description
Asset Search Spec
[Status] <> LookupValue('IMPL_PHASE','Inactive')
Existing search specification that is appended in the code - [Product Name] IS NOT NULL.
This queries for the Asset Mgmt - Asset and Asset Mgmt - Asset XA business components.
Order Search Spec
[Order Status] <> LookupValue('FS_ORDER_STATUS','Cancelled') AND [Processed Flag] = 'N' AND [Order Active Flag] = 'Y'
Note the following:
■ If the user property is provided then [Processed Flag] = 'N' AND [Order Active Flag] = 'Y' is mandatory and must be included. These two fields will not be added back in the final query in the Order Entry - Line Items and Order Item XA business components.
■ Any field that is added in the search specification should be present in the Order Entry - Line Items and Order Item XA business components.
Existing search specification that is appended in code -
[Product Name] IS NOT NULL AND [Action Code] <> '-' AND [Due Date] <= <Future date> AND [Processed Flag] = 'N' AND [Order Active Flag] = 'Y'
This queries for the Order Entry - Line Items and Order Item XA business components.
Quote Search Spec
[Quote Status] <> LookupValue('QUOTE_STATUS','Order Placed')
NOTE: Any field that is added in the search specification should be present in both the Quote Item and Quote Item XA business components.
Existing search specification that is appended in code -
[Product] IS NOT NULL AND [Action Code] <> '-' AND [Quote Id] = <Quote Id>
This queries for the Quote Item and Quote Item XA business components.

■ Business Service Method: Retrieve or Initialize
While retrieving PAC, these workflows may need to pass search specifications using values available in the workflow. To provide that flexibility, these business service methods can read and operate on the following additional input arguments:
■ Optional Asset Search Expression: This queries for the Asset Mgmt - Asset and Asset Mgmt - Asset XA business component.
■ Optional Order Search Expression: This queries for Order Entry - Line Items and Order Item XA business component.
■ Optional Quote Search Expression: This queries for the Quote Item and Quote Item XA business component.
Search Specification Changes for Bug 11934240Use the following procedure to change the search specification.
To change the search specification
1 Identify the workflows that call the VORD Projected Asset Cache business service.
2 In Siebel Tools, select the workflows and edit them.
3 Select the target step that invokes the preceding business service method, and provide the optional input arguments detailed in the following table to the step if necessary:
Input Argument Type Value Comments
Optional Asset Search Expression
Expression e.g '[Asset Id] <> ' + '"' + [&<Name of the parameter in the workflow>] +
Any field that is added in the search specification should be present in both the Asset Mgmt - Asset and Asset Mgmt - Asset XA business components.
Optional Order Search Expression
Expression e.g '[Account Id] <> ' + '"' + [&<Name of the parameter in the workflow>] +
Any field that is added in the search specification should be present in both the Order Entry - Line Items and Order Item XA business components.
Optional Quote Search Expression
Expression e.g '[Account Id] <> ' + '"' + [&<Name of the parameter in the workflow>] +
Any field that is added in the search specification should be present in both the Quote Item and Quote Item XA business components.

Note the following information:
■ The values mentioned in the preceding table are examples. The optional search specification typically contains runtime data (such as Account Id, Quote Id, and so on).
■ The Business Service -VORD Projected Asset Cache user property is global; it is reflected in all the calls to the Retrieve or Initialize methods.
■ Workflow changes are local; they are reflected only when the Retrieve or Initialize method is called from that workflow.
■ The user property and workflow changes are optional. If they are present, they are appended. If they are not present, they are ignored.
