MPRESSIVE CONCEPTS [MAGFOLIO]

Flushing, Queens, NYCFlushing lies at the end of the No. 7 subway line and is one of the outermost neighborhoods served by the subway. It is best known as New York’s 2nd Chinatown, and the only higher concentration of Chinese outside of Asia is in the more famous Chinatown of Lower Manhattan. The intersection at Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue is the 3rd busiest in the city, after Times Square and Herald Square.

I love the era that I grew up in. Born 1984 and lived my early childhood years in the late 80’s-90’s when I had a clean fade with a moon part; that right there made my cipher complete and then my teenage years which was in

the mid-nineties. I got a taste of best of both worlds; the Cassette and CD era of Music.

In this issue of Mpressive Concepts [Magfolio] I am given the opportunity to share my graphic design work. Some designs displayed were commissioned and others were personal projects giving off the essence of my life. Being born in Flushing, Queens and then raised in Brooklyn has given birth to my special uniqueness when it comes to designing. I’ve been living in Brooklyn for over 10 years, and I love it here, but to be more precise, I

love it in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The creative spirits that reside in that neighborhood feeds my artistic and design approach. I’ve been designing for fun and as of lately it’s become more of a job. Honestly, I try to escape, but the

feeling never seems to leave me. But I came up with a solution, and that solution! is BALANCE.

Now I have fun designing stuff for corporations, non-profits, local businesses and for me. There is a saying that if you find something you love to do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. Nothing in life comes easy and

without hard work. I take my abilities as a creative designer very seriously. I have learned so much in this field and I live each day with an open mind, to learn more. I would rather have experience without reaching a level of

perfection. I define perfection as exceeding all levels of growth. I’m here on this earth to learn, share and grow. So here is Issue 1. I hope you get inspired by my work.

LOGOLogo design is an important area of graphic design, and one of the most difficult to perfect. The logo (ideogram),

is the image embodying an organization. Because logos are meant to represent companies’ brands or corporate identities and foster their immediate customer recognition, it is counterproductive to frequently redesign logos.

Color is considered important to brand recognition, but it should not be an integral component to the logo design, which could conflict with its functionality. Some colors are formed/associated with certain emotions that the designer wants to convey. For instance loud primary colors, such as red, are meant to attract the attention of

drivers on highways are appropriate for companies that require such attention. In the United States red, white, and blue are often used in logos for companies that want to project patriotic feelings. Green is often associated with the health and hygiene sector, and light blue or silver is often used to reflect diet foods. For other brands, more

subdued tones and lower saturation can communicate reliability, quality, relaxation, or other traits.
