innovative Powerwith Strong rootS

Ever since the Company was set up in the year 1888, TEREX Fuchs has been a driv-

ing force behind innovative solutions in mechanical engineering. In the course of its

110-year history, the Company has evolved from its roots as a handicrafts-based busi-

ness into an enterprise in the TEREX Group, where it is a specialist technology provider

and global player to be reckoned with on the world market for loading machines and

handling units.

Here, time and again, TEREX Fuchs has pointed the way forward with pioneering tech-

nical solutions, writing its own piece of industrial history. More than 100 years of

experience in mechanical engineering and the most varied of production methods form

the basis for the tradition of continuous product improvement and further development

at TEREX Fuchs. The success of this corporate philosophy is reflected in surging

sales figures and in the steadily rising global distribution of its products, which are

now backed by strong logistics and spare-parts supply thanks to its integration into an

internationally operating Group. Worldwide, TEREX is now ranked no. 3 in the list of

global full liners, and the customers of TEREX Fuchs are benefiting from this position

on an increasing scale.

Still, the crucial factors behind the success of the products – as they were 100 years

ago in an age of hand-made individual production – are still the utility value of the units

and customer satisfaction. In this regard, TEREX Fuchs stands by its historical roots.

Just as the first mobile loading machines were designed to meet customers‘ need

for a robust easy-to-operate machine to tackle loading work and simple digging jobs,

customers find that the latest product developments for port handling jobs and in the

timber sector are a match for their day-to-day requirements. So, it is no accident that

the practical utility and the performance of TEREX Fuchs units are extraordinarily high,

particularly in the case of special applications.

3

making good thingS even Better

For the workforce at TEREX Fuchs, it is now virtually second nature to draw

only brief satisfaction from their good results. As soon as some machine works

glitch-free and performs as desired, the moment has normally come for TEREX

Fuchs to ponder whether things might not even be improved a bit more, per-

haps becoming a bit faster or a bit more frugal.

The result of this approach is worth writing home about: the performance of

the next-generation TEREX Fuchs loading machines has been significantly im-

proved yet again. Lifting capacities have been further optimized. Bigger under-

carriages make for even more stability and allow faster working motions and

greater lifts. A new geometry guarantees huge reaches, and better hydraulic

controls bring greater performance reserves and higher speeds and enable

even softer and more precise positioning of the load.

In the process, serviceability has been improved further thanks to simpler ac-

cess, while new micro filters have yet again lengthened oil-change intervals.

But it is not just the performance parameters that have been enhanced: new

engines with substantially reduced emission and consumption values also

make the new machines more environmentally friendly, which translates into

lower operating costs.

What is unchanged, however, is the proverbial handling quality and durability of

the machines and their easy-as-pie operation.

4

5

The quality of a machine is not only a matter of performance, however, but

also of availability. If a performer has downtimes smack in the middle of a job,

this is definitely annoying and, above all, expensive, so that quality has always

weighed heavily at TEREX Fuchs.

In this respect, TEREX Fuchs leaves nothing to chance. The entire production

process, from material procurement all the way to delivery and subsequent

trialling of the units, is subjected to continuous quality assurance and monitor-

ing. TEREX Fuchs meets the requirements of the quality standard DIN EN ISO

9001.

The quality-assurance process starts at the supplier already for incoming goods,

where each and every component undergoes close intake control and accom-

panies every machine through all the various steps in production. In addition,

all components in every manufacturing stage are checked for functionality and

production quality until, finally, the entire unit is again subjected to a function

and performance test on a machine test rig.

Also, all hydraulic functions are put through their paces, until a thorough final

check of the machine gives the go-ahead for shipment.

The role as specialized global player within the TEREX

network, with the steady extensions to its product range

and the continuous enlargement of its dealer base, is con-

stantly facing TEREX Fuchs with new challenges.

Of growing importance here is the question of communi-

cations with dealers and customers in order, on the one

hand, to consistently further develop the product range in

line with practical needs and, on the other, to engage in

brand nurturing via PR measures by providing information,

as might be expected of a company this size. At TEREX

Fuchs, they appreciated early on that only exchanges with

dealers and customers can enable you to survive on the

market and develop the solutions required by practical op-

erations.

For this reason, TEREX Fuchs has invested considerable

funds in training and information. A modern training and

information centre and new demonstration premises,

where regular dealer conferences and information events

are held, are a visible sign of the efforts that TEREX Fuchs

is making in this area.

Since 1994, more than 6,000 loading machines have shipped worldwide to customers on all

continents via a steadily growing dealer base and TEREX‘s international distribution network.

As a specialist for innovative loading-machine technology, TEREX Fuchs offers a complete

range of universal machines in the areas of scrap handling, recycling, timber and port handling

as well as special applications. The product range consists of 7 mobile loading machines with

service weights from 19 to 77.5 t, engine outputs of between 84 to 248 kW and reaches from

10.4 to 21 m, designed to give max. performance and availability on scrap and recycling jobs.

For uneven ground, there are also two models on crawler tracks with service weights of 32.5

t and 40 t resp. and engine outputs of between 114 and 142 kW. For the timber sector, TEREX

Fuchs offers a complete range of 4 units in service weights from 23 to 33 t with an output of

between 112 and 165 kW, which are specifically tailored to the requirements of timber han-

dling. In addition, loading machines MHL 340, MHL 350 and MHL 360 are offered in a Fuchs

Quick-Connect FQC version for a multitude of jobs. With this, TEREX Fuchs offers an innova-

tive, efficient and proverbially reliable product range, covering every conceivable deployment in

the most varied of material-handling uses.

Jobs on scrap yards and at recycling facilities are not for

the faint-hearted. What matters here is handling capac-

ity, dependability and availability. The robust design and

long-lived components of TEREX Fuchs loading machines

and their by-now household stability offer crucial reserve

capacities.

With these reserves, full output can be achieved in eve-

ryday deployment at all times even in extreme conditions.

This is ensured by powerful and tried-and-tested diesel

engines with ultra-modern motor management, fast and

responsive hydraulics with enormous lifting capacity and a

roomy driver cabin, setting standards on the market with

its comfort value. The hydraulically adjustable cab ensures

an optimal view of the work area and makes child‘s play of

feeding scrap shears and loading equipment.

Operations at a timber yard or sawmill place heavy

demands on loading machines. Besides lifting ca-

pacity and mobility, what is needed here first and

foremost is versatility. TEREX Fuchs loading ma-

chines for timber handling are specially designed

for these specific requirements. The square de-

sign of the undercarriage guarantees optimal sta-

bility in all deployment situations when handling

round timber, while ensuring excellent manoeu-

vrability coupled with high driving and curve-turn-

ing strength. When it comes to the loading and

unloading of trucks and the pick-up of round tim-

ber of various lengths for sawmill processes or

interim storage and the associated travel on the

timber yard ‚pick-&-carry‘ machines like the new

MHL 454 are the prime choice.

All-wheel steering and automatic steering control

with likewise automatic track control and automat-

ic correction ensure the highest-possible safety in

this respect.

Extra polder blades, which can be mounted to the

front or the rear of the chassis, permit quick clear-

ance of traffic routes and uncomplicated alignment

of the logs in the grab.

The MHL 460 is specially designed for traction op-

erations using a trailer and can load and unload the

trailer on its own without any uncoupling, and then

transport the material on as needed.

9

moving more in Port handling

10

For some time now, ports have increasingly been moving

on from traditional bulk handling functions to an ever-wid-

ening range of complex services. Mobile loading machines

in this environment offer much greater deployment flex-

ibility than conventional stationary port handling units.

Contrasting with ship unloaders, portal and cable cranes,

TEREX Fuchs loading machines can be deployed at once,

can travel and are ready to go to work without any prepa-

ration.

Wherever general cargo and other loads must be picked

up and positioned with precision, mobile loading machines

offer definite advantages. Using hydraulic loading facilities,

bulk material, for example, can be picked up by a clamshell

grab directly at the ship‘s side avoiding any trimming of

the ship and set down on a heap spot-on, or also directly

into the body of a truck or another hull. Here, loading ma-

chines specifically designed for port handling work, like

the MHL 585, have a reach of 21 m and permit unloading

even across high built ship‘s sides.

In this respect, the loading cycles can be precisely control-

led even with heavy loads and – relative to the loading cy-

cles of heavy-duty cable cranes – are a whole lot faster.

11

moving more thankS to oPtimal FlexiBility

Being a specialist for innovative handling units, TEREX

Fuchs offers a product range embodying the most varied

of handling concepts, which have been developed in close

cooperation with dealers and customers and designed for

the deployment situation concerned. Here, the practical

utility of the units and their constant availability in every-

day deployment are always to the fore.

The route toward solving a problem – as in the case of

the Fuchs Quick-Connect system – can consist in a much

broader deployment spectrum and greater mobility. But it

can also lead to a significant rise in output by focussing

on specialization, as in the case of stationary mounted

loading machines. What both solutions have in common is

the simple principle that our customers can expect opti-

mal performance from a TEREX Fuchs loading machine.
