General Information

Packing tips• Clearly mark and label

every box including theroom and contents andclearly mark fragile cartons.

• Pack heavy items first sothey don’t crush lighteritems or cause the box to tilt.

• Ensure carton is packed full,use crushed paper at the bottom and top of the carton.

Delivery• It is important that you or

someone acting for you bepresent when we deliveryour goods to correctlydirect in the placement offurniture and cartons.

Lounge

• Prepare dismantlingof wall units andunconventional furnitureitems, including blinds,curtains, other fittings.

• Pack pictures andmirrors in appropriatespecialised cartons.

Bedroom

• Remove all linen andpillows from all beds.

• Disassembly andreassembly ofconventional beds is partof our removal service.

• Specialist items(waterbeds, wardrobes), must be prepared prior to transportation.

Laundry

Appliances• Disconnect appliances

from the power and watersupply prior to moving.

• Clothes dryers fixed to awall must be dismantled prior to moving day.

Washing machines • Drain the appliance and

hoses of all water and drythe machine.

• Most machine bowlsmust be secured withmanufacturers machinestabiliser bolts.

• Refer to manufacturer’shandbook to avoid preventable damage.

Kitchen

Food & Liquids• Only foods that are fully

sealed and unusedare accepted for transportation.

Fridges and Freezers• Defrost your fridge and

freezer 24 hours beforemoving.

• Place a roll of toilet paperat the bottom to absorbexcess moisture.

Crockery • Pack plates vertically

and glasses lip downindividually wrapped. Usecrushed paper to absorbvibration and preventdamage.

Garden Equipment• Outside effects such

as garbage bins, lawnmowers, tools must becleaned of all soil, grass, vegetation to comply with quarantine.

Plants• Moving plants locally is

a routine matter. Brushdown pots free fromdirt, cut plants back andremove dead or looseleaves.

General Information

• Don’t leave anythingloose, if it fits in a boxpack it, otherwise Kentcan provide customcrating for large, oddlyshaped or valuable items.

• Don’t overload boxes

Refer to Kent professionalpackers to pack any fragile items.

• Plastic tubs and garbagebags should not be usedfor packing ortransportation.

• No flammable liquids orhazardous itemsincluding gas bottles lighters and batteries.

• Preparation of appliancesare not part of our removals service. Kent can provide an ancillaries service to manage your requirements prior to move day.

Equipment

• LPG bottles can bemoved provided they are completely empty and have been purged with a certificate attached.

• Lawn movers and othergardening equipment canbe moved, provided all fueland oil is emptied (staterestrictions apply).

• Scuba tanks can only bemoved if completely empty.

• Fire extinguishers,heaters and lamps mustbe emptied of fuel usingappropriate method.

• Remove batteries from allappliances.

Kitchen

Food & Liquids• Perishable or opened

items will not be acceptedfor transportation.

• Food or liquids cannot berelocated internationally.

• Wine is countrydependant and may attract duties and taxes.

• No food items will beaccepted into storage.

• Sharp objects must beproperly wrapped toprevent them protrudingfrom the moving boxes.

Workshop & Outdoors

Plants • Giving away plants is

advisable due to thevarying quarantinerequirements interstateand internationally. Even ifquarantine allows plantslong distance moves arenot conducive to the healthand wellbeing of the plant.

Kent is committed to manage the safe removal of your household items, under the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 there are many items that cannot be moved.
